The speaker for this month is Chris Wood from X-Ped talking about “The future of remote control”.

If you, like most of us, have 5 or more remote controls that clutter up your coffee table at home, then this presentation will interest you. But I hear you say “what about universal remotes?”. Well they are primitive ‘has beens’ compared to a new remote control technology invented by an Adelaide company. Called Auto Discovery Remote Control or ADRC for short, the world is set to change forever. ADRC will enable one remote controller to control any household appliance, industrial or medical instrument – really any device at all whether it exists now or has yet to be invented and without any configuration or setup.

How does this revolutionary technology work and what are the amazing applications and commercial opportunities that will emerge from this?

The focus this month is on Game Art. Tom McQueen, Internode Media Manager will be introducing 3 presentations:

Hugh Nguyen from The People’s Republic of Animation, John Newall, visual freelancer and Enabled Games and MEGA have pleasure in launching Mega Balls, a free iPhone application.

Tom McQueen is an experienced Internet professional after a decade working in the new media, broadband and telecommunications sectors.

The People’s Republic of Animation (PRA) is an award-winning studio
creating world-class work that gets a reaction.

Their diverse team of directors, writers, artists and producers all
agree on one thing: that when it comes to creating great work they would rather offend some than impress none.

In addition to their short films and TV commercials, PRA has produced
animation for some of Australia’s leading games developers including
Krome Studios, Blue Tongue Entertainment, THQ Australia and Torus Games.

John Newall will be talking about Pixel Art – With 9 years of industry experience in private and public sectors, John Newall has a well-rounded understanding of how visual communication enhances businesses and projects.

During the last 2 years he has worked intensively with Podmo Mobile and Kukan studio gaining a knowledge in designing for mobile and interactive applications.

He currently freelances across the fields of print, web and mobile.

Our speaker is Dr Marisa Maio McKay, Director of Research for m.Net Corporation, Australia’s leading full service mobile marketing company.

Dr Marisa Maio McKay

She is responsible for the design, implementation and management of bespoke research projects that offer clients in-depth insights into mobile consumer behaviour and help to drive outstanding results for their mobile initiatives. During her time with m.Net, Marisa has carried out research for a range of clients including media organisations, advertising agencies, local telecommunications carriers, technology companies, government and universities.

Together with AIMIA, Marisa manages the annual Australian Mobile Phone Lifestyle Index Survey. She also instigated and manages Australia’s involvement in the annual global Worldwide Mobile Data Services Study. She has a PhD in Marketing and Information Systems in the area of ‘Forecasting Market Demand for Breakthrough Products’ and a Masters by research in the area of branding. She is also a Visiting Research Fellow at the University of Adelaide and has presented at local and international industry and academic conferences.
