Parag Shah works as Business Development Manager for InfoStretch Solutions, Ahmedabad. He is primarily focused on selling mobile services and solutions to US, EMEA markets for InfoStretch. He carries more than 5.5 yrs of experience in International Sales & marketing and has worked with several IT/software firms in Ahmedabad.

He is die-hard fan of Google’s Android platform, certified SEO professional and has played with Ruby On Rails & Adobe Flex technologies in past.   Parag is an engineering graduate in Electrical and has done correspondence MBA with specialization in Systems & Marketing from Sikkim Manipal University.

Dear All !

MoMo Ahmedabad has gone the Silicon Valley way with The Ahmedabad Mobile Showcase on 10th of October, 2011! We got an overwhelming response from the Mobile companies, developers and student communities of Ahmedabad for this event. Amongst the many of Ahmedabad’s innovative mobile companies, shortlisted five companies got an opportunity to showcase their innovative & award winning apps to the mobile community.

The event begun with a 360° view of Global Mobile Industry by Mr. Ashok Karania, one of the founding members of MOMO Ahmedabad. Mr. Karania covered all the aspects of Mobile ecosystem including the latest trends & technologies as well as their business opportunities in the global mobile market.

This presentation has provided a perfect platform for the Mobile companies to showcase their innovations to the audience. The first to present was Mr. Nitin Bawsay from Priya Softweb Solutions whose focus was on Enterprise Mobility solutions. He showcased some of the innovative enterprise applications which includes a Business Intelligence app for GE Top management and an award winning application for Cobra electronics which allows users to view radar alerts, log alert history, warnings of upcoming speed and red-light cameras, and control settings using their iPhone.

The next was Amit from AMITech a technology startup with two ventures. Allevent.in a website which gives you information on all the networking events happening around with more than 7 lakh events posted on it.  The other is AMITech which develops innovative mobile products. They showcased some very innovative products like audio synthesizer, Piano, educational app for kids & an app for training your dog!!!

After that we had a company, MotionFrog, with a vision to bridge the gap between academia & industry. They provide practical training on iOS & Android with hands-on to multiple application development. The next was a startup called MobiVidya which ventures in to educational mobile products specifically for Gujarat. They showcased a wonderful application which helps the school children to learn English language in a very easy and entertaining way with features like Fun games & two way dictionaries.

The last but not the least Snehil, a 2^nd year IT student from Nirma University who was very excited to present a mobile application idea to the audience by throwing a challenge to all the participating companies to go ahead and develop it.  The idea was about an mp3 player application with a feature of karaoke of all the songs being played but the App should be stand alone(It should not use the internet for getting the lyrics).  That concludes a very interesting & interactive MOMO event!!!

Speaker Profile: Ms Aakriti Shroff 

Akriti is an undergraduate at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology currently pursuing a bachelors in Computer Science and Management Science. She is the co-founder of The Indian Mobile Initiative. The Indian Mobile Initiative is an effort to promote entrepreneurship through Mobile Innovation in India. Earlier she was Research Intern at MIT STEP Lab and Media Lab where she developed many innovative mobile applications and games.

Recently Mobile Monday representative were invited to be part of IEEE Summer School – 2011 at DAIICT – Gandhinagar.

Summer school is good way to provide exposure to students to deliver real time projects implemented in cutting edge technology. To help the students, personalities from relevant  industry have provided their expert view on different aspect like technology, app design, software principal, user experience, etc.. That really help students to realize their idea in defined time duration.
Mobile Monday Community member Mr Rajnikant Joshi, were invited to deliver the lecture series on Mobile Track. Android was the implementation technology decided for Mobile track. 3 days lecture series was good enough to provide understanding of technology and finalize the approach for the project. There are 50+ students registered into Mobile track from different universities around the India. Students were divided into 10 groups and each group need to identify and develop an independent app. Reference for many market place apps are provided to think of an idea for an app which can really add a values.

10 or 12 days are short duration to experience complete practices and technology; but it is good enough to generate the hunger to learn it in detail. That was the main motive we have and  we are really happy to see many newcomers executing ideas on one of the most influencing technology in recent time.

The 2011 BlackBerry Developer Challenge for Best Flash/AIR Mobile App for BlackBerry PlayBook is now open and accepting submissions for the competition in the challenge. The challenge focuses on finding the best apps by quality, innovation, creativity and compelling user experience.

Prizes: The challenge is bigger and better this year, with fantastic prizes. Win more prizes as the same application can be submitted to the Developer Challenge being organized at both the global and India regional levels:

* Prizes at India Regional level:
o First 10 winners will receive one BlackBerry PlayBook each
o Next 10 winners will receive one BlackBerry Smartphone each
o Free pass for one representative to attend the contest winner announcement and felicitation ceremony at AFPS 2011
* Prizes at Global level: this year prizing is valued at USD $3 million; further details can be found here

Timeline: Both newly developed and existing applications are eligible to compete in the contest. Applications for the competition must be completed and submitted within the following dates.

For India Regional level Developer Challenge:

* 30 May – 15 July 2011: the duration of the competition
* 16 July – 26 July 2011: winner selection
* 27-29 July 2011: winner announcement

For Global Level Developer Challenge:

* 28 April – 12 Aug 2011: the duration of the competition
* 30 September 2011: winner selection

Judging: Submissions will be judged by a panel of experts from Research In Motion Limited and Adobe Sytems. Submissions will be judged based on:

* Quality and use of development best practices
* User experience
* Level of visual appeal
* Creativity and innovation

How to Enter
Step 1: First register here and be accepted by Research In Motion Limited as a BlackBerry App World Vendor. Registered App World vendors will have a valid e-mail ID to log into App World.

Step 2a: Sign up for the India-specific Best Flash/AIR Mobile App for BlackBerry PlayBook competition here.

Step 2b: Submit the same application to the global 2011 BlackBerry® Developers Challenge. Find more details here.

Step 3: Once your application is ready you should submit it to the BlackBerry App World, using the Vendor credentials you created in Step 1. If your application is accepted by the BlackBerry App World team, you will receive a BlackBerry App World Application ID in your e-mail box. (Please review Contest Rules for the competition here).
