MoMo Boston – June 10th – Tablet Commerce: Fad or future?

Over this past holiday season, IBM reports that the conversion rate for shoppers on iPads was 6.3% compared with 3.1% for mobile devices overall, while Comscore indicates that twice as much commerce happens on tablets versus phones.

The retail sector is moving forward quickly to build experiences for consumers who shop in a lean-back, interactive tablet experience.

At this event, we’ll learn how local Boston retailers are trendsetters in this emerging sector of mobile as Rue La LaCustomMade, and others talk about tablet strategies and tablet success stories.

TalkTo which lets you communicate with businesses via text message, in April they raised $3m from Matrix Partners. SessionM creates a gamification layer for mobile apps, they recently raised $20m led from Charles River Ventures. SummerCamp has a playfully off-color game by a couple of game gurus from the former 38 Studios. Owlchemy Labs are SEGA-published Boston game developers who will show off their latest creation. Timbre is a local live music app which that appeared during a hackathon and was swiftly techcrunched. Ubersense enables mobile collaboration between athletes and coaches, they recently raised $1.1 from Atlas, Google, and Boston Seed Capital.
