Mobile Monday Global Launches Online Alliance Platform

We are thrilled to announce the debut of our sleek new Alliance Platform via the Mobile Monday .net grand central website! This effort targets our well-established network with engagement opportunities from major global supporters, using custom widgets for dynamic updating feeds wrapped in a smooth slider design, to deliver relevant and direct in page content offerings.

As noted on the top page when we re-launched here some 18-months ago:
While MoMo has traditionally meant face-to-face encounters, the need for digital interaction between stakeholders is increasingly clear. This platform is another step towards addressing the demand for members to connect with developments in the community, spanning over 100 locations worldwide.

That same principle holds true for the many sponsors of Mobile Monday events around the world over the years. “Building trusted physical connections with members is – and continues to be – the core of Mobile Monday” stated Jari Tammisto, CEO of Mobile Monday, “at the same time, our online network provides global 24/7 reach for all players and this solution enables another strong contact channel”.

It’s a great honor to feature IdeasProject, concept by Nokia, as our launch partner for this effort. The collaboration is significant in that Mobile Monday was also founded in Finland and we share an open approach to innovation through mutual exchange across all borders. According to Pia Erkinheimo, Head of Crowdsourcing at Nokia, “The philosophy of MoMo resonates well with IdeasProject. IdeasProject’s creation power is truly global with the reach to 204 countries and autonomous region. It’s idea crowdsourcing community based on voluntarism and open innovation. Ideas found from IdeasProject seek execution, while MoMo members get hands-on inspiration for their businesses.” Erkinheimo continued: “Ideas are the currency of the future. However, people are more important than ideas – and that’s what Mobile Monday is all about – people.”

Naturally there are positive discussions with several potential partners to join this campaign and of course we look forward to expressions of interest from others who would be keen to participate. The global website has gained impressive traction and we have an attractive kit, with friendly pricing and full stats reporting, available to bonafide requests for review.

“Bringing the Mobile Community Together” has long been our central stated mission, we look forward to bolt-on more value added options here in 2012. As ever, your kind support & continued feedback is most welcome.. Smile it’s (always) Monday!

Mobile Monday Global – The Mob Rulz – Welcome to 2012!

Welcome to 2012 – The Year of Mobile Everything.. and More!

And Heeere We Go.. hope you had a chance to bank a few extra hours sleep over the holiday season because you’re gonna need it at some point in the next 50-odd weeks. With one last glass of egg-nog in hand, sure to put hair on our chest, we’ve pulled together this first heads-up blast of the year. Since most folks are stumbling back into the routine it seemed best to list below all the MoMo global news and events we could find for January at this point, no doubt we missed a few — blame it on the grog.

MoMo Bangalore ran their Start-up Bootcamp just yesterday while Dar-es-Salaam gathers tonight with a Financing Mobile Innovations theme. Detroit is back on-track Jan. 9th with Going Mobile roadmap and we’re thrilled to see a new team re-boot MoMo Kuala Lumpur at the swank GTower roof-top venue! Also ‘on’ 01.16 – Miami digs into Consumerization of the Enterprise, Oulu defines Start-up Strategy, and Taipei will focus on Choosing the Right Ecosystem. Noted the Tel Aviv crew was chomping at the bit for Apps Discovery as they burst out the gate on Jan. 2nd, while our MoMo Vegas team is hosting ATT Hackathon folks, at the Palms of course, Right Now.

Upcoming for Week of Jan. 16th we see Athens back in the groove, Making Money in Mobile, with Cleveland geared up for WiMo, Dubai does LBS and Grand Rapids focused on Mobile Gamification. MoMo Madison has SoLoMo theme for next event there while Paris hosts event #52 – dedicated to NFC – and Rennes does La Revolution des Interfaces. We should also point-out here the deadline to snag a featured spot at M-Days in Frankfurt is Jan. 16th and the WIP Jam co-op is only 1-week away!

Looking towards the end of this month, as Yoda would say: Always in motion the future is, we see Bangkok on 01.23 with their re-scheduled by last November flood gig – super agenda at the Sherton there. Denver is also planning for Jan. 23rd, details to come, and Islamabad will get together again at Wah Campus. The 2012 Jo’Burg debut is set for 30th of Jan. with Vodacom hosting App Developers, while Washington does Destination Mobile and Zurich has Product Dev. Strategy – both on the 23rd.

By our misty math, there are at least 24 actions this month and should note +100 new members have joined the community platform over the holidaze = Many Smiles! Congrats to the N8 winners, thanks for your thoughtful submissions, we’ll be in touch to arrange prize delivery asap. Otherwise, our very best wishes to everyone for a happy, healthy and successful new year.. of Mobile Everything!

MoMo Philly Mobile App Forum & Bootcamp at Temple University

Later this week, developers, entrepreneurs and investors will meet to talk about the future of mobile app development in light of a notable Temple University grant that is focused on just that.

Mobile Monday Mid-Atlantic, the local event organization focused on mobile issues — which has been ramping up its attention to app development as of late — will kick-off the 2011 Mobile Application Forum and Bootcamp this Thursday afternoon. [Full Disclosure: Technically Philly is a media sponsor of this event].

“[Mobile Monday] has always been very business focused. We’re aiming to get wider and encompass the development community and the app ecosystem,” says Chuck Sacco, Mobile Monday’s president and chair.

“Our aim is to help any businesses that are trying to make decisions about mobile. What should they be doing? Where should they invest resources?”

To coordinate, the organization is working closely with Fox School of Business early-stage venture forum program Mid-Atlantic Diamond Ventures and Temple’s new Urban Apps and Maps Studio, the $700,000 grant project we covered last month.

The event will focus on product roadmaps, costs issues, funding hurdles and more, and will feature representatives from Comcast Interactive Media, Bentley Systems, Yorn, Dell Boomi, and Ben Franklin Technology Partners, among others.

Though Mobile Monday has hosted development workshops like this in the past, Sacco says because there’s been a lot of growth from the mobile development community, there will be plenty of takeaways from Thursday’s event.

“They’ve now got a year or two of solid experience behind them. You see many more examples, a lot more traction. It’s matured to that next level,” he says. Via: Technically Philly

The Mob Rulz – Oct. 31st – Tricks & Treats

Heard You Missed Us.. We’re Back!

Indeed, it’s been a full year now since we posted The Mob Rulz Flash Mag. and about time (finally) for an update here. As you might ‘imagine’ it’s a resource intensive effort to produce the old version of TMR, and since we’ve settled into our new mobilemonday.net digs, this has become the grand central station for Mobilista feeds and local MoMo chapter community connections.

And what a year it’s been.. while we could spill a few gallons of digital ink, perhaps best to have a quick skim over the Global Archives section, and for those more adventurous the Chapter News, to get a handle on activities these last 12 months. The always energetic Happy_Bots have been keeping track of our weekly events list, posting across FaceBookLinkedinTwitter as well, and now going forward the mystery metal-man will add snappy updates here too… whooah – did ya just feel that rush of excitement flowing across the inter-webs..?!? All agents encouraged to make Contact Requests 8-)

So, with that (tricky) brief sorted.. now wazzup? Funny, we usually see about 10 gatherings every week, but for this Oct. 31st 2011 debut edition it looks like only MoMo Munich will be open to all Mobsters! However, we note an ambitious schedule of Mobile Monday gigs the following week of November 7th and meanwhile wish you & your little spooks a fun, safe and bountiful Hallowed Eve.

Otherwise.. important heads-up, we do hope all will take note, for the annual MOvember campaign! Ya gotta like (hint) love this effort, so – Please – spread the news and support that most worthy cause.

Finally.. with respect to additional content bolt-on potential for this (ahem – wildly popular) space, we figured a dedicated Shout-Out to feature our fantastic members on the platform is in order. Therefore, always the gentleman, here’s some profile link-love for a few new ladies who have recently joined us: @samanthax @moventure @fasola @meganoxman @mixtmedia @irislouwerens @wkaiser @niyati @annakress @davinam @stacyjay @divindaiana @cellularity @meghilger @cluckhoff

Stay tuned here for more fun and – Hey – some Great Prizes too = Treats yo!

Startup Weekend Manila Concludes with Mobile Monday Event

The frenetic 54-hour Startup Weekend Manila event in Taguig City, Philippines was book-ended Monday night by a Mobile Monday Manila meeting at the Calle Scirocco restaurant and nightclub in Makati City. [Congrats to our very own Christian Besler And Charo Nuguid who did a fantastic job on both of these events!]

There is no shortage of people in the Manila area – and increasingly, no shortage of tech ideas. Monday’s event featured talks from some of the teams who were on display over the week-end.

Monday’s event featured talks from some of the teams who were on display over the week-end. The 100 or so developers on hand Monday night also listened to pitches from Microsoft and RIM.

Norbert Aquende, a Microsoft Windows Phone MVP, said there would be 185 billion smartphone apps downloaded in Asia alone over the next five years, and that Microsoft intended to offer developers a vibrant ecosystem with Win7.

The Philippines is the social-media capital of the world, as measured by per capita texting and SM usage. This is no surprise given the tight bonds that unite families and friends here.

He was followed by Johan Kremer from RIM Singapore, who touted statistics that found Blackberry developers have been the most successful in the industry and that the company intended this to continue. He also made note of the company’s big Asian developer’s conference, to be held in Bangkok in December.

The country’s English-speaking dimension, a propensity for quick action (think of Manny Pacquiao throwing a few lightning combos and you get the idea), and a wacky sense of humor that underlies this reserved culture have likely found no better friend than the emerging smartphone app market. Building apps is not easy, but doesn’t require massive resources – a good idea, some creativity and humor, a good designer, and a few good code demons can be all you need. Plenty of all of all that here. Full article via Sys-Con Media
