Announcing July MoMo and special guests RSPCA

Join MoMo Melbourne as we invite local mobile industry experts to pitch their mobile ideas to RSPCA Victoria on Monday July 20th .

Primary Logos

After our hugely successful “Pitch My Mobile” event with Tourism Victoria in April, MoMo Melbourne has partnered with AIMIA Victoria once again to bring you this very special July ‘MoMo’ event.

Presenters will be given two weeks to prepare a 5 minute pitch, selling a mobile strategy to our guest brand.  Presentations will be made live to RSPCA in front of an audience and everyone will have a chance to ask questions and get down to details.

Come along and learn what our local mobile industry has on offer right here and now. This is a fantastic opportunity for anyone interested in exploring the mobile channel to hear from & meet the important players in mobile.

If you think you can define a mobile strategy and impress not only RSPCA, but also our audience, contact MoMo on momomelb@gmail.com and tell us about yourself or your business.

Registrations for this event are now open and we recommend you book now to avoid missing out. The last Pitch My Mobile event booked out in 3 days. Confirm your place now and make sure you’re there to hear from local mobile experts on July 20th..

Want to take *your* mobile idea to market?

Hi MoMoers

If you know of anyone wanting to take a mobile app or content (or product or service) to market, but is not sure how, Mobile Mondays is pleased to recommend an upcoming free info session with three local folk who have done just that.

Thursday July 9th at the Telstra Executive Briefing Centre between 4.30pm and 6.00pm, anyone interested in learning from three successful business people about the roads they took to commerical success are welcome to attend.

We’ll learn from:

Brad Birchall – CEO – Asatori

Antony McGregor-Dey (yes he’s back – for now…) CEO and Founder - QMCODES

Dan Walmsley - CEO - Gravity Rail

After this, MoMo’s own Justin Brow will provide a clear overview on the upcoming mega program and how it can help people with existing ideas (or those who are keen to develop new ones) work with many of Melbourne’s finest leading digital industries experts to get their ideas to market.

Spread the word about this valuable session.

Date: Thursday July 9th

Venue: Telstra Executive Briefing Centre (Level 18, 35 Collins St)

Time: 4.30pm – 6.00pm

Registations and further details: http://mega.org.au/

See you there.

Tales from Yonder Markets – June Event

mn  ad_mob_logo_header

As I type this (according to the ABS) Australia has a population of 21,770,471 people. In contrast, a global population clock from the US (while jumping by approx 20 or so every few seconds!) calculates the global comparison at 6,782,103,135.

While as business people it makes complete sense to target our work to the latter, of course different markets present different challenges and opportunities, so cultural sensibilities count for a lot.

This month MoMoMelb  welcomes two local business operators who have gained their extensive knowledge from focusing on the massive market opportunities of Asia and Europe and also we welcome Zubair Jandali from AdMob, who will shed some light on the US market and some of the differences between the US and Australian markets.

Our guest speakers will provide their perspectives on such topics as:

  • operator dominance
  • data distribution
  • channels for apps
  • emerging areas for opportunity
  • case studies of successful organisations

Mr. Alex Young, Founder & CEO of Mostyle, the brilliant and comprehensive publishing platform empowering users to build professional quality mobile sites,  has over 10 years experience in the mobile and games industries. Alex’s working and research career spans Australia, Hong Kong and Japan.

Europe:

————————————————————

North America:

Mr. Zubair JandaliDirector of Marke DevelopmentAdMob . Before AdMob, Zubair worked in SEM at NexTag and in the investment banking division of Goldman Sachs.  Zubair holds a BS from the University of California, Berkeley and will share with us his insights on the American Market and how Aussie-based business can break into it.

Venue:  Horse Bazaar (397 Little Lonsdale St, Melbourne)

Time:  6pm for a (punctual) 6.30pm kickoff

For suits, techies, creatives, students, professionals, top-end-of-towners, SME and sole operators alike,  MoMoMelb provides great insight into worldclass knowledge in an informal and engaging environment.

Join us at next month’s MoMoMelb to hear Tales from Yonder Markets and learn how to navigate your product or service into far greater populations than those on our shores.

Cheers

Thanks for coming to MoMo Melbourne May!

Thanks everyone for coming along on Monday night.  It was another great event and we had heaps of positive feedback from members.  Thanks again to Tony Lay from Iron Monkey, Robert Murray from Firemint , Anton Sher from Front Foot and Zac Jacobs from Dux Digital.

It looks like we have grown beyond the constraints of our regular venue, Horse Bazaar.  Our April event was so jam packed (with more than 120 enthusiastic MoMoers) that we nearly flowed out the door.  Apologies to those who were stuck down the back and couldn’t participate in the (very interesting!) question time.  We’re now on the hunt for a new, bigger venue that will be as welcoming and supportive as Horse Bazaar – a tough ask.

If you’re interested in checking out Zac Jacobs presentation from last Monday night, you can find it now on Slideshare.  Zac from Dux Digital on Mobile Games

Zac tells us that a lot of the data from his presentation came from a report by Portio Research. Mobile Entertainment Futures 2009-2010.  Check the website for a full description and a detailed brochure.  If MoMo Melbourne members are interested in seeing the full report, Zac has negotiated with the author to secure a 30% discount for MoMo Melbourne. To receive the discount, email John White on info@portioresearch.com and mention the promo code momomelb.
