Many thanks to Jeff Sass, VP, Bus Dev, Myxer & MoMo Miami Exec Committee member for having suggested a panel topic that turned out so many attendees despite the heat of mid-summer Miami, for his pre-event organization of the panel and for his excellent & amusing introductory history of the smartphone.

Special thanks as well to panel moderator Bridget Carey, Technology Reporter, Miami Herald, for her thoughtful and probing questions of the panelists and directing the Q&A with the audience. And, of course, to the panelists themselves: Policarpo Guerrero, CEO, MSCorp & Open Ovi blog; John Collette, Software Engineer, Myxer; Edwin Hernandez, Principal Staff Software Engineer, Motorola; and Ben Hopkins, Independent iPhone Developer.

Finally, a debt of gratitude to Angelique Swann of the Doubletree Hotel Coconut Grove for having generously provided the meetup venue, with ample space and great views of Coconut Grove and beyond from the 20th floor of the hotel.

Next meetup is scheduled for Thursday September 17th in Coral Gables … with more details on the venue and program to come soon, so stay tuned!

Many thanks to venue sponsor Yahoo! Latin America and to our three panelists from Yahoo!, Nokia and Vivo, for having made our June monthly meetup of MobileMonday Miami a very successful event!

The presenters/discussants on the topic of mobile delivery of news and information content to an audience variously estimated at around 60 or more were: Mariano Zadeh, Mobile Business Development Lead, Yahoo! Latin America; Mônica Moreira de Magalhães, Director of Products & Services, Partner Management for Bazil’s largest mobile carrier, Vivo; and Saulo Passos, Communications & Social Media Manager, Nokia Latin America.

In attendance were dozens of professionals in mobility, technology and related fields, who came from as far north as Palm Beach and as near as right down the street in Coral Gables. The standing room-only audience of individual service providers and executives with companies large and small were representative of the growing South Florida mobile eco-system and included, among others: Nortel, MobilCash, Motorola, Global Roaming, Moblog, Narian Technologies, RIM, FutMob, EFICI, Mobility World, Axxis Solutions, Boxkite … and, of course, Yahoo! and Nokia.

In addition, we were privileged to extend MoMo Miami hospitality to mobile professionals from throughout Latin America and the U.S. attending the two-day-long Mobile Commerce Americas 2009 conference, presented by Frecuencia Latinoamerica at the Hyatt Regency Coral Gables.

After the panel and refreshments generously provided by Yahoo!, networking continued down the street at Novecento, courtesy of “happy hour” pricing extended to MoMo Miami meetup attendees throughout the rest of the evening!
