Forum Nokia Calling All Innovators



Forum Nokia is challenging mobile and web application developers worldwide to submit best-in-class applications for use on Nokia devices in the 2009 Calling All Innovators contest. Winning applications will be featured in Nokia’s new Ovi Store, which has the potential to reach 50 million Nokia devices globally when it launches in May.

The top submission in each category will receive cash and prizes that include:

    * Premium placement of the winning application in Nokia's Ovi Store, where consumers will find the best mobile applications and content for their Nokia devices;
    * Paid travel to demo the winning application at a Nokia-specified event; and
    * The winning applications will be reviewed by Nokia for possible preload on future Nokia devices. 

Total cash and prizes for winning applications are worth more than $250,000!

Developers can submit applications in three contest categories:

* Internet Innovation – Transform consumer-focused ideas into real applications on Nokia devices using standards-based web technologies.
* Flash –Build compelling applications that expand the capabilities of Flash Lite on Nokia devices.
* Emerging Markets and Mobile Necessities – Create innovative applications that cut across mobile technology platforms. All applications will be considered, including those developed using Java, Python, or open source. 

In the Flash category, there is an additional prize of $10,000 USD, for one application that also received money from the Open Screen Project Fund this year.

Details about the types of applications that can be submitted, along with the judging criteria, are available on the contest website.

Contest entries will be accepted until midnight (EST) on 30 June 2009.

Finalists will be announced on 17 August 2009, and the winners will be announced at Nokia World in early September.

MobileMonday Singapore and CocoaHeads Singapore invites you to our joint event to feature a series of innovative iPhone developers and forward looking enterprises who have exploited the unique capabilities of the iPhone to offer mobile users in Singapore a unique mobile experience.

Joe Goh is a Mac OS X and iPhone software developer who formed his company, FunkeeMonk Technology, in 2006 as one of the only companies in Singapore writing Cocoa-based software for the Mac. Since then, Joe has released PhoneJournal for the Mac and has worked on several iPhone applications for multiple clients

Attendance is free of charge.

Mobile Payment Call-For-Collaboration (CFC)


IDA has just announced a Call-For-Collaboration (CFC) to submit proposals for the deployment of contactless POS terminals. One of the aim of the CFC is to catalyse the deployment of NFC mobile payment solutions in Singapore. For more information, visit IDA's web site here

MobileMonday Singapore Peer Awards 2009


Innovation is crucial for the future success of the mobile industry in Singapore. MobileMonday Singapore will always strive to find, nurture and support the mobile innovations.

MobileMonday Singapore is calling for all nominations for the upcoming MobileMonday Singapore 2009 Peer Awards Competition to be held on Monday, 30 March 2009. Eligible Singapore-based mobile companies will take the stage to make a 5-minute pitch to a panel of expert judges.

Eligible companies are encouraged to submit your entries with your company name, brief summary of your product and a relevant web link to mobilemondaysingapore@gmail.com. The deadline for submission is Friday, 20 March 2009.

This award aims to reward and recognise the exciting innovations emanating from the local mobile industry. It also aims to build and showcase the innovations from various individual developers that bring status-quo-challenging new ideas that reinvents the mobile industry, while providing visibility on the global stage to investors, customers, the media and business partners.

Event Concept:
10 to 12 hottest mobile start-ups will have a brief time slot (of about 5 mins) to present their innovation in front of the audience and expert jury.

Companies must fall into one of the two categories:
1) Early Stage Start-Ups (Recently founded with angel funding)
2) Emerging Start-Ups (Operating between Series A - Series B)

Innovation Awards:
Among all the finalists at least 3 awards will be given:-

- Early Stage Start-Up Jury Award
- Emerging Start-Ups Jury Award
- Audience Award: All participants will vote for their winner

There is no restriction on the business model, platform or market segment. Whether you have a content, service or application, targeted at B2B or B2C customers and/or running on Java, Symbian, Flash, etc.

Embedded Software Engineer

Responsibilities include:
• Developing embedded software and drivers and software on 8-bit and 32-bit microcontrollers,
including embedded solutions and implementations of complex
algorithms.
• Supporting the software development process, including the complete requirements
analysis, design, development and testing.
Required qualifications:
• 2-8 years experience developing embedded software for a range of micro-controllers.
• Experience developing for the Atmel AVR and ARM Cortex families is preferred.
• Familiarity with developing software using C and C++.
• Ideal candidate would have interest or experience in distributed wireless network
protocol design.

Mobile Applications Engineer

Responsibilities include:
• Developing applications on mobile devices, primarily under the J2ME platform.
Additional platforms include WinCE, Android and iPhone.
• Supporting the design of an intuitive graphical user interface, and interfacing with
attached hardware peripherals.
• Developing a back-end data-base, along with programming for website integration
and technical support.
• Supporting the software development process, including the complete requirements
analysis, design, development and testing.
Required qualifications:
• 2-8 years experience working under the J2ME applications
