MoMo Tel Aviv – May 13th – APPortunities in the Developing World

We’re very glad to invite you to a great MobileMonday Tel Aviv May event, that will look this time at the opportunities for Mobile Developers at the Emerging Markets.

While most of the Israeli mobile app developers are looking at the US and sometimes at Europe as their target markets, the big opportunities lies in connecting the next billions of mobile and smartphone users to Internet and apps. The mobile and smartphone penetration rate in areas like India, South-East Asia, Africa and Latin America, are growing very rapidly, and the device landscape and app needs are not necessarily the same as in the developed world.

At this month’s MoMoTLV event we will take a closer look at the mobile apps landscape in the developing markets from several perspectives.

Zohar is a veteran entrepreneur in the mobile monetization space. He is the founder of Amobee, one of the the leading mobile advertising companies, that was acquired by SingTel for $340M. Zohar is based in the US and knows this market by heart, he will talk about the current trends of this industry and share tips for app developers looking to monetize their apps.

Our guests from Japan will give us a thorough overview of the mobile advertising and monetization scene in Japan – they cover all sides of the industry starting with internet giant Yahoo! JAPAN followed by Rakuten, the e-commerce giant (one of the top 10 internet companies worldwide) onward to Hakuhodo Inc. the most veteran Japanese advertising and public relations company. The Japan section of the event will be moderated by Levi Shapiro, Partner in the JIMMI (Japan-Israel Mobile, Media & IT) Fund.

Tech Session Details:

Many developers and project managers are familiar with creating mobile applications but fewer are aware of the challenges of deploying, operating and maintaining backend infrastructures that support those mobile applications. This session will explain how to use Amazon Web Services to deploy scalable and reliable backends for mobile applications, including customer examples operating mobile production systems.

With over 12 years of experience in the IT industry, Carlos began his career in when he founded IWorks, a company dedicated in building automated Java web applications on top of legacy systems. Having a strong technological background with an entrepreneur mind set, he then went on to cofound Newaxe, a software start-up providing a monitoring platform for enterprise-oriented software. He also worked for three years as an independent consultant, focused on IT architecture, and implementing pragmatic solutions for customers. Carlos now works as a Solutions Architect at Amazon Web Services where he is dedicated to helping customers with the adoption of cloud computing.

Adi Sharabani
A world wide security expert and the CEO of Skycure, a start-up focuses on providing solutions for securing mobile devices. In the past, Adi was a manager at Watchfire, another startup company which was a pioneer in the field of application security and was acquired by IBM in 2007. Among his roles, Adi was incharge of the security of many of the IBM software developed world-wide; lead the entire IBM application security research; written many patents in the field and was known as an IBM Master inventor. Adi’s works have been presented in many known conferences such as BlackHat, RSA, OWASP, Innovate and more and his presentations and keynotes are constantly being ranked as best presentations of most conferences he presents at. Adi teaches in the Ohel-Shem high school in Ramat-Gan, and part of the vision and implementation of including cyber-defense as an optional curriculum for high school students. Israel Mobile Summit 2012 Event Recap

We had some exciting events last month around Israel Mobile Summit 2012, and just now we have some time to recap all the mobile goodness we had...

First, huge congrats go to Zap Guitar, winner of the Israel Mobile Summit startup contest! They definitely have the cool factor and we're sure we'll hear of them a lot. Thanks also to all other finalists - you guys rock!

The summit this year has become the prime event for the mobile apps ecosystem in Israel with over 600 attendees from all over the industry. We also had guests and speakers from the US, UK, France, Finland, Romania, Japan, India and more. We also got prime-time coverage in the main news cast of the leading Israeli TV channel - see the Israel Mobile Summit coverage on channel 2 news here.

We had the pleasure of hosting Jari Tammisto, the President of MobileMonday who came all the way from Finland, you can see his inspiring session here.
