MoMoTLV Peer Awards: Registration Closed

Registration to the the Mobile Peer Awards on behlaf of the Tel Aviv chapter is now officially closed. Thanks to all the startups who registered - we have a nice crop of 15 different startups from various fields in the mobile space.

The stratups registered are (listed alphabetically): Cellerium, Cellogic, Clip In Touch, emoze, fring, InnerActive, iTycoon, Loop Mobile, majimob, Media Layers, mobiapp, MobileNOBO, NeatCall, Netalizer, TeleMessage.

Note that if you're not in this list, you are not nominated since you did not submit an entry by the deadline which was yesterday (Nov.30).

The contacts of those startups received today a mail regarding the next steps, if you happen to be in this group and did not get the mail, contact us at MoMoTLV, since there are important to-do items until Dec.4.

We will announce the Mobile Peer Awards event details soon. Good luck to all participants!

Mobile Peer Awards – Open for the first time to Israeli startups!

As announced yesterday in our mobile UI event (thanks all for coming was great seeing you again, pictures here), this year for the first time, Israeli startups can take part in the influential Mobile Peer Awards contest, which will be held in Barcelona on Feb.16, 2009 (First day of 3GSM or in its new name: Mobile World Congress).

The contest is organized by MobileMonday Barcelona in collaboration with the entire MobileMonday community. Each MoMo chapter nominates one startup to send to the competition, and after further review by an international jury, 20 lucky startups get to go to the contest and give a 3-minutes pitch of their product, and hopefully win one of the awards (Jury Award, Audience Award, MoMo Award).

Since MoMoTLV was launched earlier this year, this is the first time Israeli startups can actually participate in this event. Any startup can apply, whether you are in the seed stage with no clients or an emerging startup with big sales - however, you must have at least a live working demo to show (i.e. not concepts on napkins...).

To apply, your first step is to go to http://www.mobilepeerawards.com/ and sign-up, indicating MoMoTLV as your home chapter. Then submit info, a presentation and a video about your company/product. All this must be done by Nov. 30 - if you're not in by then, you're out...

Important note: It seems that the peer awards site has some browser compatibility issues, for example you will not be able to register your startup with Internet Explorer 6 (and possibly also IE7) as you will not see a submit button in the registration form, so please use other browsers (Firefox 2.x also works fine).

We will hold an event on December 15, 2008 in which we will select the startup that MoMoTLV sends to the contest. But again, if you don't register by Nov.30 you cannot participate, and we can not help you in any way, as the registration system is not handled by us. We will announce more event details as they become available. If you would like to sponsor this event, please contact ofir dot leitner at gmail dot com.

Questions about the competition should be sent via the Mobile Peer Awards thread in our discussion board. See you on Dec.15!

MoMoTLV mobile content event summary

Thanks to all of you who came to the event, was great seeing familiar faces, and also seeing new ones. We hope you enjoyed the event, we got great feedbacks on the venue (Mandy's) and its location, so we might use it again for next times as well.

Looking back, since we launched MoMoTLV, we had 3 events with an attendance of 100+ people on each event. But that's not enough for us, and we're already planning the next event, which will probably have some guests from abroad and ought to be very interesting - we'll release more details as they become available.

As usual you can see the pictures from the event in our gallery (more pictures will go up later on). Also, the presentations from the event will be available soon here, so stay tuned.

We would also like to remind you that you can use the google group for just about anything related to the mobile industry: business questions (which companies give service X), technical questions, job postings, "philosophical" debates about the state of the local/global industry and other stuff - feel free, the discussion board is here to use it. The strongest MoMo chapters usually have very active boards, and so should we!

See you at the next event!

Thanks again to our annual sponsors Partner Communications (Orange Israel) and BlueRun Ventures, our new annual sponsor Amdocs, and the event sponsor Eurocom (Nokia Authorized Distributer in Israel).
