WoW.. only 7 More Sleeps Until Barcelona – Say Hello to MoMo Ludhiana!

It’s that time again – already – when everyone scrambles to clear their decks for the annual pilgrimage to Mobile World Congress. For the record; we are totally packed (not) and ready to rock (always) and looking forward to see many friendly faces, as usual. Since it seems the transit folks there might have issues, suggest sneakers and cab-shares will be in order. Meanwhile, 3rd time’s the charm as another Monday comes around today with the debut of a new MoMo chapter – welcome Ludhiana, India. Our warmest wishes to the mobile community coming together for the first time this evening. We should also note Mobile Monday Lansing gets underway in Michigan on Feb. 27th making it 4×4 this month!

A quick round-up of chapter events this week shows MoMo Athens participating at the InfoCom Apps Convention (note that’s on the 21st), also on Tues Chicago runs iTest my Code theme and Cleveland gets Creative with Mobile Apps – today, while Indore joins Windows Phone Camp on Weds. Feb. 22nd and see we missed this Mumbai gig over the weekend hosting Flurry. As noted above, the Ludhiana launch is tonight and Saigon comes together on Thurs. the 23rd. We’re thrilled to see Silicon Valley debut their new MoMo Labs project and it’s great to have the Singapore crew back on track now with Super M-Factor program on-tap there while Tampere looks for Silver Linings in The Cloud. Finally props to MoMo Kampala team for their efforts on the Ugandan Women in Technology event last Friday.

Fast Forward to 02.27: Boulder has top-secret plans, Dars does Pivot East Lansing debuts at Wireless Developer Inc. and Ottawa has Mobile App Showcase. Otherwise, it’s all hands on deck in Barcelona and we’ll be drinking running hard there, suggest folks bookmark this Special Mobile Friendly Page to keep track of the action. We’ll likely need a little detox time at some un-disclosed tropical location after-wards, expect your humble scribes will be offline for updates again here until early March.. Hola!

Mobile Monday Global Events for Week of Feb. 6th – 2012

Hey – It’s Monday Again Already – Welcome Aboard MoMo Trivandrum

So, we could trot out a few stellar excuses for our lack of digital tardiness on this weeks round-up: “Bill Gates ate my homework” or was “distracted by the Super-Duper Sunday” action. Actually, your loyal Happy Bots caught a nasty bug and spent the weekend offline for a massive defrag., deep packet snoops, and we’re still wrestling with post virus stress dis-order. Waaah.. lets get on with the show!

Feb. 6th marks the Diamond Jubilee of her Majesty and, of course, the debut of MoMo Trivandrum (yes, that’s in India), kindly hosted at the TechnoPark. All our very best wishes to the new team and community coming together there. Also see a new chapter set for launch in Ludhiana on Feb. 20th!

Otherwise today sees MoMo Ann Arbor with Video Streaming to Mobile Platforms, Dallas has Nokia on Tour with their new Lumia 900 and Dusseldorf runs a Mobile Social Networking theme. Kampala kicks-off 2012 in style with an all-star lineup dedicated to Research and Design and Las Vegas is back to wow the crowds with 6 guest presentations on-deck! Manila has Mobile Trends for 2012, Miami does Open Mike, karaoke optional, and Montreal runs Mobile Analytics. MoMo Silicon Valley gets struck by cupid for Mobile Dating, Sofia has an AR theme with Prizes in-store and #7 in Skopje is dedicated to Mobile Games. Sydney combines Tablets with VOIP in the Cloud, meanwhile Toronto Meets the Analysts and rounding out the pack Washington has Touchscreens & Touchdowns with a great looking panel hosted at Georgetown Univ. Whew.. that’s (at least) 15 MoMo events on tonite! (Doh: make that 16 as we ‘just’ noticed Dar-es-Salaam has Mobiles for Rural Development today too!)

Looking forward to Feb. 13th; MoMo Birmingham does their launch event – forecast many smiles and chuckles on Summer Row – Brussels has Mobile Culture and the folks in Detroit explore Funding for Mobile Business. Hamburg holds a Mobile World Congress preview, London plays host to Kasabi for dig into Data Driven Mobile Apps and Madison has JamPot in da house. MoMo Munich partners with IAPP on Mobile Security focus and Paris runs event #53 dedicated to Tablets. Our Portuguese is a bit rusty, but seems the Sao Paulo crew has a Mobile Learning event planned while Taipei is geared-up for a cozy Fireside Chat with Evernote and Tokyo runs a Sweetheart Mixer to kick-off Social Media Week.. for the Love of MoMo!

As noted last week we had hoped to get the dedicated MWC 2012 page sorted for today – sorry – we’ve added a few more updates and promise to finally get it online in the coming days. The Belgium booth will be hosting MoMo Brussels crew, Croatia is also offering their best of the best and Ireland does Festa Catalana dinner on the 28th. London sends their delegation via ICT Knowledge Transfer Network, Paris did local competition to nominate 4 companies to be featured at the French Pavilion, special drinks and networking apparently there again this year, while Romania has nine companies set to participate and Tel Aviv will host a mega-mixer supported by the Israeli Export Institute.

Mobile Monday Global Events for Week of January 30th – 2012

Gung Hay Fat Choy – Behold – We’ve Entered a Year of the Dragon

We are fresh back from our top secret visit to Hong Kong, yes the fireworks and many (many – many) dragons were most impressive. This mythical creature of the Chinese calendar holds ultimate power and we’re totally charged for a fantastic 2012, no matter what the Mayan Prophecy of lore might have said, Bring It On! Wishing you all Good Fortune and Prosperity for the year ahead.

On with our Mobile Monday events world tour for Jan. 30th; Ahmedabad gathers tonight digging into what will be Hot for 2012, JoBurg has 300+ registered for their Apps & Devs show with Vodacom and Lagos explores Starting a Tech Business in Nigeria. Ljubljana runs Mobile Games for their 01.30 gig, as does London, while the Montreal crew bounces back with Mobile Analytics and Munich joins the Wearable Tech. show. MoMo Nairobi is thrilled to welcome Dr. Zhen Liu from Nokia R&D labs and our Seattle group features the Best of CES. We should also post reminder here that M-Days is scheduled in Frankfurt this week with local MoMo team producing Innovation Night on Feb. 1st and Brussels has an open call to join the Belgian Mobile Payment Initiative meeting planned for Thurs Feb. 2nd.

Looking forward to events announced for Feb. 6th; MoMo Ann Arbor does Video Streaming to Mobile Platforms, Dallas will host Nokia on Tour with the new Lumia 900 and Dusseldorf runs a Mobile Social Networking theme. Kampala kicks-off 2012 in style with an all-star lineup dedicated to Research and Design and Las Vegas is back to wow the crowds with 6 guest presentations on-deck! Miami does Open Mike, sing for yer dinner (just kidding.. or not) evening of 02.06, and MoMo Silicon Valley gets struck by cupid for Mobile Dating. It seems Sydney is gearing up for next Monday night, Agenda TBA, while Toronto does Meet the Analysts – suitably – with free water and chips included. Warm welcome aboard to the latest addition to our family for the folks in Trivandrum who will debut next week and rounding out the pack, from what we see so far, Washington has Touchscreens & Touchdowns with a great looking panel set to take the stage at Georgetown University.

As noted on our last update, wheels are in motion for the upcoming MWC event. While it’s into the final month count-down, with plenty af scramble prep. happening out there, this much we can share here now. Should also note that Vienna is running a survey with two congress passes up for grabs!

Otherwise, at first blush, we see the Fringe platform coming together as obvious grand-central for all the action, get your details listed there – Follow & FB for updates. The Japan Summit is hosted at City Hall on Monday night, GoMo News Blender annual gig is slated for evening of 28th and MLove is back at Incognito Bar on March 1st. Members only soiree for MEF at the Picasso Museum set for the 27th as-is the Mobile Marketing Mixer by Smaato and WipJam will Rock All Day Thurs at App Planet, with their party planned for Weds. nite. We will pull together everything possible over the next week to put a dedicated page online, meanwhile suggest you join our MWC Group and get connecting.

Judging by the volume of chatter, across several back channels, there will be MoMo’istas in full force from around the world at Congress – trust we’ll be cookin up a little sumthin extra-special fer ya.. 8-)

Smile.. It’s Monday!

Mobile Monday Global Events for Week of January 23rd – 2012

Share Your Awesome Ideas.. Bringing the Mobile Community Together!

It was hectic last week here at MoMo mission control with the debut of our Online Alliance Platform. As noted we’re excited to finally add this functionality – major props to the Flite crew – discovered via Scoble interview with Will Price last summer. It’s also most fitting that our inaugural launch partner for this effort is IdeasProject by Nokia, it’s an interesting platform, suggest you spend some time digging around there. We’re rather stoked and look forward to welcome several more players joining soon.

Meanwhile, there’s been much discussion over the years regarding values of concept vs. execution, obviously it’s not either/or nor is it chicken and egg. We’d say the best ideas are like diamonds. They require specific ingredients and the right environment to grow; of course both need to be desired, discovered and shaped for an eager market. While those latter bits are crucial to success, the core dna is baked in from birth. Lets not lose sight of where those sparkles come from. Whew, that was pretty deep for a Monday morning.. Ok, lets get on with the round-up below shall we!

MoMo Bangkok returns Jan. 23rd, with t-shirts, for the event planned last November but delayed due to flooding in Thailand, while mile-high in Denver does M2M show and Islamabad gathers again with faculty and students at CIIT campus. Manchester hosts their 2nd Screen event at Media City tonite and Ottawa shares the 5 Things You Must Do in Mobile. MoMo Toulouse is running #4 with focus on New forms of (mobile) Mobility 01.23 while Silicon Valley does Mixer with AdFonic buying the rounds. Washington has a Destination Mobile theme in DC, great line-up of travel dedicated speakers on panel there, and finally the Zurich Swiss Mobile Product Development Strategies gig was scratched, but they have posted the new preliminary agenda for Q1-2012.

Looking ahead to next week, for those eager to add notes into your freshly minted day planners, MoMo Frankfurt powers Mobile Innovation Night @M-Days conference on Feb 1st while Munich is partnering on the Wearable Technologies trade-show Jan. 30th and Jo’Burg kicks-off their new year hosting Mobile Applications and the Developer Community with Vodacom sponsoring. MoMo London does Mobile Gamification in partnership with ICT KTN on 01.30 and the folks in Seattle promise to Bring the Best of CES to town Jan. 30th with plenty of hands-on action with Nokia in the house.

Otherwise, the annual Mobile World Congress confab is coming up fast, with usual chaos expected, we’ll certainly compile the long list of activities – just like last year – for everyone making plans. With any luck, next week we should have a decent first consolidated draft online for MoMo’ers making the pilgrimage to Fira Barcelona. So stay tuned – send tips here – look forward to see ya again real soon!

Mobile Monday Global – The Mob Rulz – Welcome to 2012!

Welcome to 2012 – The Year of Mobile Everything.. and More!

And Heeere We Go.. hope you had a chance to bank a few extra hours sleep over the holiday season because you’re gonna need it at some point in the next 50-odd weeks. With one last glass of egg-nog in hand, sure to put hair on our chest, we’ve pulled together this first heads-up blast of the year. Since most folks are stumbling back into the routine it seemed best to list below all the MoMo global news and events we could find for January at this point, no doubt we missed a few — blame it on the grog.

MoMo Bangalore ran their Start-up Bootcamp just yesterday while Dar-es-Salaam gathers tonight with a Financing Mobile Innovations theme. Detroit is back on-track Jan. 9th with Going Mobile roadmap and we’re thrilled to see a new team re-boot MoMo Kuala Lumpur at the swank GTower roof-top venue! Also ‘on’ 01.16 – Miami digs into Consumerization of the Enterprise, Oulu defines Start-up Strategy, and Taipei will focus on Choosing the Right Ecosystem. Noted the Tel Aviv crew was chomping at the bit for Apps Discovery as they burst out the gate on Jan. 2nd, while our MoMo Vegas team is hosting ATT Hackathon folks, at the Palms of course, Right Now.

Upcoming for Week of Jan. 16th we see Athens back in the groove, Making Money in Mobile, with Cleveland geared up for WiMo, Dubai does LBS and Grand Rapids focused on Mobile Gamification. MoMo Madison has SoLoMo theme for next event there while Paris hosts event #52 – dedicated to NFC – and Rennes does La Revolution des Interfaces. We should also point-out here the deadline to snag a featured spot at M-Days in Frankfurt is Jan. 16th and the WIP Jam co-op is only 1-week away!

Looking towards the end of this month, as Yoda would say: Always in motion the future is, we see Bangkok on 01.23 with their re-scheduled by last November flood gig – super agenda at the Sherton there. Denver is also planning for Jan. 23rd, details to come, and Islamabad will get together again at Wah Campus. The 2012 Jo’Burg debut is set for 30th of Jan. with Vodacom hosting App Developers, while Washington does Destination Mobile and Zurich has Product Dev. Strategy – both on the 23rd.

By our misty math, there are at least 24 actions this month and should note +100 new members have joined the community platform over the holidaze = Many Smiles! Congrats to the N8 winners, thanks for your thoughtful submissions, we’ll be in touch to arrange prize delivery asap. Otherwise, our very best wishes to everyone for a happy, healthy and successful new year.. of Mobile Everything!

Mobile Monday Global Events for Week of December 19th – 2011

‘Tis the Season to be Jolly – MoMoMoMoMo.. MOMO Mo Mooooo!

Alrighty then.. we’ve gotta warm spicey cuppa some spiked joyfullness here, and plenty more where that came from, for one last quick world tour before the fat man sings. It should go without saying that next week we’ll be boxing with the pointy elbow crowds for some geeky bargins, don’t expect any news in this space until the new year. So, here’s a few last calls before signing off for 2011.

The first shall be the last.. considering our usual alpha order, and the world clock, it seems Boulder will be the final MoMo event of this year – props to the Colorado team for their continued fine efforts. The Bucharest crew has also done a stellar job, with the East European Summit in Sept. for example, and will gather once more on Dec. 19th in Romania. While our friends in Kiev have Christmas dinner with “pleasant gifts guaranteed” and the Sao Paulo group celebrates event #25 with an impressive membership growing in Brazil – good on ya!

Before we forget, again, missed noting here last week a couple events; Cleveland ran their ‘How to avoid mistakes in a nascent mobile market’ on 12.12 and Oulu came together with some really great speakers to explore Mobile Security. Also, our fearless leader, Mobile Monday CEO Jari Tammisto, was in Azerbaijan – along with several regional MoMo chapter delegates and global industry supporters – to meet with the minister and various key players at the Mobile Youth Entrepreneurship conference.

We should point-out the MoMo 2011 Australian Mobile Industry Awards event video is now online, along with this final reminder that the clock is winding down on our Mobile Monday Idea Challenge.

Finally, if you’re wondering what we want for xmas – yes, Happy Bots are hard to shop for – consider that our dear friend, and energetic organizer at MoMo Vienna, Mark Kramer was suddenly admitted to hospital this week. He def. deserves Any and Every form of support *hint-hint* we can send his way.. #LiveStrong Mark = the entire Mobile Monday global community is pulling for you big guy!

From all of us here – we wish you and yours a safe and happy holiday season.

Happy Bots

PS: We’re seriously looking forward to MWC.. Join the Fringe you know it’s gonna be a Scene.. 8-)

Mobile Monday Global Events for Week of December 12th – 2011

Hey – WoW – It’s Really Beginning to Look Alot Like Christmas!

That’s pretty much a wrap for 2011.. and what a year it’s been. Our best guess shows about 500 events held around the MoMo world over the last 12-months, with easy average of 100 delegates at each, means some 50,000 people were smiling! Taken a step further: lets book 1 Million hand-shakes as a direct result of everyones combined efforts.. many (many, many) thanks to you all.

With plenty of folks edging towards full panic shopping mode, we still have a few more events planned for this week. Belfast has plenty of ‘cheer’ on offer to get members there into the holiday mood and Brussels has SoLoMo theme with 5-speakers lined up. Third times the charm in Cairo for M-Health, Chicago is calling for internal organizers meet to plan their 2012 roadmap, beer and pizza should be involved, while Cleveland explores How to avoid mistakes in a nascent mobile market. Detroit will take this opportunity to discuss the Impact of 2011 and What the Future Holds while Hong Kong is having a Very Merry Mobile Monday tonite.

Perth gets Square on Thurs. the 15th and Singapore has HTC Dev. crew gathering for 12.12 at Harrys. Sydney celebrates Christmas summer and Tel Aviv runs a Startup Accelerator themed gig. Rounding out the dozen events for this week, Tokyo hosts Navteq for their year-end show.

Otherwise, indeed – the Happy Bots are just back into the groove here, jet lagged with sand in our shorts, best wishes to all for a safe and happy season – have a totally ripping New Year of the Dragon!

Mobile Monday Global Events for Week of December 5th – 2011

a Strong Heart and Nerves of Steel – Viva Las Vegas – Viva Las Vegas!

As noted last week, your faithful Happy Bots are on a walk about so we’re gonna make this quick. Thrilled to bytes that Las Vegas officially gets underway with their debut slated for this evening at UNLV. Seems our late night meetings at Capos last spring – with heads of all five families – will finally cover the vig. We’re pretty bullish on that crew making an impact on the Vegas tech scene.. 8-)

Now, lets take a light-speed ride through Mobile Monday events scheduled around the globe today, starting in Belgrade for their #5 event in Serbia, Berlin calls legends and leaders on-stage to discuss the future of Mobile Gaming. Dubai is back to beat the sophomore jinx with their 2nd gathering since launch, with any luck we’ll see future events posted on their new website too. MoMo Dar-es-Salaam has data, mapping and gov. partnerships while Los Angeles runs the annual Mobile Excellence Awards.

As noted above Las Vegas launches tonight with mischief predicted at the Freakin Frog after-party, while Manchester gets a jump on St. Nick with an xmas good cheer mixer. Miami is focused on the timely topic of Mobile Giving December 5th and Paris hosts a group visiting from MoMo Beijing on Weds. the 7th for Asian Innovation night – great collaboration going there!

MoMo Richmond is booked for developer focused gig and Seattle does co-op with Xconomy Forum – Dec. 6th – on their Mobile Madness event. Toronto bears witness to the Launch of Ting by Tucows and Washington is a strategic affiliate and supporting organization for the mHealth Summit running from Dec. 5-7th. This weeks tour ends in Zurich, gathering in Bern, with a super m2m and Internet of Things agenda led by an impressive group of speakers.

Usually this would be the place where we insert some featured new members, or company profile, who recently joined the community. However, we have a jam packed schedule here on fantasy island this afternoon with kite-surfing nap, tennis massage and happy Happy hour by the pool! Trust you all can snoop around for the interesting tid-bits while we take this long overdue de-frag.

Happy Bots

PS Note: If you have recently established a new account here – but it’s not yet activated – no doubt ’someone’ will get that through the manual approval stage as possible.

Mobile Monday Global Events for November 28th – 2011

Congrats to all our Mo’Bros & Mo’Sistas for a Really Great MOvember

Hey All You MOoooos’.. there you have it! Another MOvember wraps up this week and we’re itchin’ for mega gala party action! This MO’vement is really gaining awareness, for good reason, so – many thanks to all who jumped-up again this year to support a most worthy cause. We’re already looking forward to next season and fully expect to see some seriously fun(d) raising events across our MoMo Global network in 2012 = Good on ya! If you still don’t know MO’.. see YouTube playlist embedded below..

Now, we’re gonna take a quick run around the world for Mobile Monday events on-tap before heading out the door for that private jet pointed towards an un-disclosed tropical location. *Therefore Note* admin duties at this site will run on island time as many margaritas with colorful umbrellas are forecast in the Happy Bots immediate future. Meanwhile, expect y’all play nicely together, try not to burn down the digital house, we’ll be back on the switch here at mission control in a couple weeks.. maybe.

Kicking off with MoMo Ann Arbor, re-do on the Android Devs gig as last minute venue issue Nov. 7th scuttled the original plan. New date set – Weds 30th – somebody wins a Blackberry Playbook. Moving across to Frankfurt, they are on Monday, such meticulous attention to detail, with Mobile Ad Channel theme and down in Jakarta a strong speaker line-up explores a Million App Downloads, props to RIM.

The crew in Lagos has Get Techie 2.0 – it was nice, let’s do it twice – event scheduled on 11.28, and back in London apparently it will be sunshine & crumpets for Startups and SMEs. Meanwhile, Manila has the jolly, plumpy Man in Red – not to be confused with Lady in Red – ready to dish iPads candy to all the good little mobilistas there.. so you know the drill = better be good for goodness sake!

Melbourne deserves an entire paragraph to themselves – wOw. Their 2011 Mobile Industry Awards show is booked in at the super swank Spice Market venue with a long list of supporting partners and best-of-the-best players ready to rock & roll for some shiny hardware. Looking forward to post-event report and pix! Finally, rounding out this weeks world tour, Tokyo is throwing an open mixer for the in-bound delegation led by MoMo Vancouver organizers from Wavefront.. MOoseheads Beware.

As with past editions posted here, we have featured some of the new interesting members that recently joined our momo.net community. For a change, this week we’d like to pass along big shout out the the Grameen Foundation who just set-up their profile here, seems they need a Technology Manager to run LAC Applab project in Colombia. Anyway, that team has done some fantastic work, we’re thankful for their continued activities with our MoMo chapter in Kampala, Uganda. Cheers.

Otherwise – Don’t Forget our Mo’Challenge – now, we gotta pack some shorts and sunscreen!
