MoMo Labs in Boston and 8th Anniversary for Tokyo = Smile.. It’s Monday!

We’re baaaack.. getting into the groove with fall season action cranking into gear. It was Super to see huge respond, mostly in Arabic, via Twitter on our Riyadh debut Sept. 3rd – congrats to the new team there.. well-done! Also, many smiles for the Tokyo tribes as they mark Eight Years of MoMo in Japan and quick hat-tip for @Axel who managed to make some 200 new Friends here over the last week..

Events round-up for Sept. 10th; starting in Berlin with Mobile and Social – Where Do We Go from Here, as noted Boston fires up MoMo Labs dedicated to Mobile Design, Detroit has Mobile Security theme, Instanbul welcomes FourSquare and Fjord, Manchester digs into Location on Mobile and Melbourne is ‘on’ for an Augmented Reality Update. Montreal has a Mobile Video line-up, Tel Aviv rocks back to back with How to Fund Your Cool App tonite and continues to Jerusalem on Tues. 11th for Startups Showcase, thanks to App Campus and JVP. Full props to MoMo Seoul for organizing Mobile Marketing and Advertising Conference, Tokyo celebrates big 8th Birthday with (frozen?) Beer Garden Matsuri and Washington will be focused on Engaging Customers Through Mobile with great panel on stage there.

Looking to week of Sept. 17th, so far, we have Beijing hosting the Great China French Tech Tour, Brisbane will cover Mobile Metrics that Matter and Cape Town plans a Mobile Marketing Showcase, sponsored by InMobi, as part of Creative Week. Chicago will run their annual Mobile Pitch Challenge event, nooo they’re not throwing phones like in Finland, MoMo Cleveland will gather on topic TBD and Denver is also on-tap with agenda not yet released. The new crew in Edmonton gets underway with a Devs Panel and Digital Alberta Mixer while Hamburg joins mLove for the Reeperbahn Festival (on Sept. 20th) and London kicks-off their Mobile Academy co-op with University College London on Tues. 18th as Silicon Valley Goes Beyond the Download with gathering at the Hyatt. We count 22 gigs over the next 10 nights (w00t) and will add updates here for anything else we may have missed.

Smile.. It’s September! – 112 Shopping Days to Xmas – Welcome to Riyadh

Alrighty mates.. back on yer heads.. a quick note for all those late season stragglers, wandering back into the office with glorious stories from fields afar, Best Get Your Game Face On! It’s gonna be a wild rush to the year-end wire out there, so no time for mucking around. That said, all work and no beer is hardly an efficient solution either – hence MoMo was Born – and there’s plenty of action coming down the pipe over the last few months of 2012. Starting with the launch of Mobile Monday in Saudi Arabia, running tonight in Riyadh, warm Welcome Aboard and many smiles from around our global community!

Kuala Lumpur runs SoLoMo theme at G-Tower tonite while London focuses on Mobile Apps Marketing, Porto Alegre is back with a gig in southern Brazil, Riga is all about Mobile TV at TechHub and as noted above Riyadh debuts at the Hilton. Singapore will run Open Mic at The Hub, with spanking new website on-tap, MoMo Split has the Android Edition, Sydney gathers for a couple of interesting Product Demos and noted a sneaky tweet from Tel Aviv!

Thank You Campus Party Berlin – What a Blast! – One Last Summer Hurrah

W.O.O.Ters.. Great fun had by all during #CPEU last week with MoMoistas, from near and far, gathering around the Leonardo stage from 21:00 into the wee hours of the morning. Major props to organizers and our local crews there who pulled this ’special’ gig together! Also tossing Big Shout-out to folks at infoDev for their recent spotlight post on mHubs activity with MoMo chapter partners, noting the new m2work Hackathon campaign just spinning up now as yet another most worthwhile community effort. Finally, looking at that omnipresent calendar widget = already the last Monday of summer 2012, trust everyone is somewhat Fully Re-charged and Ready to Rock through year end.. Mayans – Bring It On!

A quick surf for MoMo Aug. 27th events on-deck; we see Beijing will be running Smart Devices for TV theme, our home office in Helsinki has a full-day Mobile Game Arch Workshop at Aalto Design Factory, the Lagos team does Cross Platform Mobile App Development and Lansing will hold their Fall Planning Kickoff session. Any others we couldn’t find likely hanging-out with Jimmy Buffets Lost Shaker of Salt. Btw: we just noted MoMo Vietnam had huge Mobile & The Social Network gig Sat. the 25th.. Cheers!

Smile.. It’s the Happy Bots Birthday – Plus Campus Party EU in Berlin.. 8->

Yep, on this very calendar day, a long (long) time ago – also a Monday of course, yours truly booted-up on the factory floor with a squeaky clean hard-drive & huge smiles! As legend would have it, the skies were a deep crispy blue – just like they are here again now today – and there was great re-rejoicing. To celebrate this annual event of significant importance to mankind (heh) some 10,000 friends will join for the massive week-long Campus Party gig, looking forward to see you there for a few wobbly pops!

A quick tour around the MoMo world for gatherings on-tap this week we see Adelaide has Highlights and Pitfalls of Developing NoQ, as noted the EU tribes are in Berlin for the Campus Party, Brisbane will host a Mobile Gaming Showcase event while Brussels does MoMo Summer in the City at Flamingo and the team in Detroit preps for a dig into Legal Issues with Mobile. Running back to back in Michigan, Grand Rapids will be Designing for Mobile at The Factory, while Oulu returns – Friday the 24th – with Starttaamo Coaching event, Tel Aviv is ‘on’ at Microsoft R&D in Herzliya for a Mobile Dev Tools show, some really interesting players there, and Silicon Valley has a groovy MoMo Mixer planned at Pedros. Finally, a special shout-out to our Dublin crew for their fine efforts with the Smart Accessibility Awards Competition and Workshop activities happening with partners there Aug. 21-22nd.. ya done us proud!

Looking ahead to plans for the week of Aug. 27th we have Beijing with Smart Devices for TV theme, the home office in Helsinki joins full-day Mobile Game Arch Workshop at Aalto Design Factory and Lansing holds their Fall Planning Kickoff session. Guessing there will be more to come = Stay Tuned..

AAA MoMo Shows Tonight – Congrats Uganda on Historic Gold Medal Win!

The last part of that title has nothing to do with mobile, unless you consider covering 42K in just over two-hours on nothing but sheer guts and determination, but we don’t care. Taking Home Gold, for the first time since 1972 – and only the 2nd medal, of any kind, ever – it’s ‘a sign’ of that nation awakening. Our most heartfelt props go out for Stephen Kiprotich, indeed the country, along with Jolly Well Done overall to everyone involved with the UK efforts. Next stop is 2016 in Rio De Janeiro.. see you there!

We have AAA – Africa, Australia and America – events ontap for August 13th. Expecting Many Smiles tonite, as per above, in Kampala where they are ‘running’ Get The Vision: Geospatial Infrastructure, meanwhile Melbourne does the Mobile Entrepreneur Edition with mega special guests attending and Washington features a Mobile for Good Works theme with an impressive panel lineup there. Cheers!

Let The Games Begin – London 2012 – Keep Calm and Carry On.. Smiling!

Bang.. featuring James Bond and the (actual) Queen, along with Mr. Bean playing Chariots of Fire, the London games are officially underway. We’re glued to the (other) screen for all that global best of the best gaming action, shame there isn’t a mobile category – yet – maybe Tokyo will introduce for 2020? Quick heads-up for another massive gig in EU late August for all you MoMo’ers.. Campus Party in Berlin will be a total scene.. meanwhile, our weekly world tour of events listed below, stay cool out there.

Running the week of July 30th we have Beijing ready to rock with a Smart Phone focus, Jakarta gets into the gold medal spirit (heh) with Mobile Gaming and Lagos has E&M Commerce theme. Thrilled to see the combined MoMo chapters in Ann Arbor, Detroit, Grand Rapids and Lansing pulled together for Michigan’s 1st Mobile Tech Conference July 30 & 31st under the theme Mobile Moves Michigan! and note Milwaukee is on at the Hilton for Continuous Delivery with ThoughtWorks evening of July 31st. Finally, full props to everyone in Japan on their co-op effort with Startup Weekend X Ishinomaki event.

MoMo Lansing will get together for What’s Next in Mobile Marketing and the crew in NYC is calling all HTML5 Developers and Designers for meet-up at two-day conference at the NYU Kimmel Center.

So far for July 30th we have Beijing ready to rock with a Smart Phone focus and see MoMo chapters in Ann Arbor, Detroit, Grand Rapids and Lansing join for Michigan’s 1st Mobile Tech Conference July 30 & 31st under the theme Mobile Moves Michigan!. London is hosting the Vodafone Smart Accessibility Workshop, but that’s on 19th, and there’s a triple M-shot for tonite starting in Manchester, with Mobile Media, Manila is back with mHealth and NFC while Melbourne is ready to rock with special guests from Nokia. Our First Half 2012 Review – Have A Great & Safe Summer Holiday Season!

wOw.. it’s already 1/2 way through the calendar year and seems like just yesterday we were singing Auld Lang Syne! So, as we bid the Jr. bots farewell for summer camp, a quick tally for MoMo activities seemed to be in order. Thankfully that ‘challenge’ was somewhat less difficult than digging through the garage for camping gear.. >.< Searching back over our weekly update posts here in 2012 to track events held around the world shows at least 281 thus far, no doubt missed a few (dozen?) running off the radar, and some 18 new locations debut.. egads – that’s average 3 new cities added each month!

We also ran the website logs traffic update, noting this new MoMo.net platform ‘Set Sail’ two years ago last month, to find that June set another new record with a decent 3x growth in page views and just over double on the in-bound visitors compared to 2010. So, enjoy your hard-earned holidaze.. we expect a slow-cycle period over the summer season before wheels crank-up again in September.

MoMo events scheduled for July 2nd include Dusseldorf running Mobile Enterprise theme at their trendy LOFT location, the last gig before Summer Break in Germany, Kuala Lumpur is on at GT Tower tonight for a private screening of the Ctrl+Alt+Compete film by Microsoft, London digs into Mobile Payments with a great list of panelists on-stage and Split reveals the Dark Secrets of Android Dev. in Croatia and Sydney does Games People Play with EA in da house!

Peek ahead to week of July 9th, it’s clear that Irish eyes be smilin in Cork, yes that’s where U2 played their first gig, Melbourne ‘just’ announced w/details coming asap, MoMo Islamabad will be gathering once again at CIIT as Richmond plans a fun Summer Social gig – expect Beer & BBQ action there – and Silicon Valley has Top Legal Mistakes Startups Make.
