Mobile Monday Ukraine in May: solutions for mobile terminals and support of developers
The Mobile Monday Ukraine event took place in Kiev on May 28 and was dedicated to the topic «Mobile Terminals for 3G Networks: Problems and Their Solutions». The Golden Sponsor of the May conference was Nokia, the world leading mobile terminals manufacturer. The event united the representatives of such companies as Irdeto, Elisa Corporation, Utel, Astelit, UMC, Point Com, Poverkhnost TV, Wireless Ukraine Association, Infocommunication Union, I-Free, Rubberduck Media Lab AS and many other developers and content providers of Ukraine and Russia. The event started with the awarding of the students of technical universities who won the Mobile Monday Contest organized in Kharkiv on May 14-21. Owing to the sponsorship of QArea, the leading software developer for wireless devices, the three winners of the contest won the trip to Mobile Monday event in Kiev where they were given special certificates and gifts from the sponsor.
The first speaker of the event was Eduard Yanovskiy, CEO of QArea. His presentation was dedicated to new solutions for mobile terminals which will allow content providers and mobile operators to use new sources of revenue and enlarge the list of services for both individuals and corporate clients. One of such sources may become multiplayer online games which represent new and perspective trend in VAS market development. According to Yanovskiy many leading international content providers stake on multiplayer online games which catalyze the development of active mobile communities which, in their turn, become the channel for effective sales of content and target advertising of services. In order to be in demand, multiplayer online games must be developed for all the existing mobile platforms and this is supposed by cross-platform solutions from QArea: during the coffee-break the conference participants had a chance to play with each other Poker developed by QArea from Symbian and Windows Mobile devices. Also in his speech Yanovskiy presented such solutions offered by the company as centralized remote management of corporate mobile terminals, innovative energy saving mail-push solution, firewall for mobile devices as well as data encryption.
In the second part the event participants had a chance to listen to Gian Luca Cioletti, Head of Business Development of Forum Nokia, who arrived in Ukraine for the first time to present the program of Forum Nokia, the world’s largest mobile development community for both independent developers and IT companies specialized in programming for Nokia platform. Forum Nokia is a unique web-resource enabling developers to get access to tools and specifications as well as explanations from Nokia experts. An important contribution of Nokia to mobile business development became marketing support of new interesting solutions; the Forum Nokia representatives help all the registered members of Forum Nokia to introduce their solutions to the market. In addition to Internet communications Forum Nokia regularly organizes Tech Days all over the world enabling the participants to personally meet Nokia representatives. The nearest Forum Nokia Tech Days will take place in Budapest, Hungary, on 7-8 June. The next open Kiev meeting with Forum Nokia is planned for the end of 2007.
