David Schropfer is Partner at the Luciano Group where he leads the Mobile Payments practice, leveraging his years of experience in both the telecommunications and the payments (credit/debit card) industries.
Since co-founding the Luciano Group in 2005, David has been responsible for strategic development and negotiation for the firm and its clients in the areas of partnership agreements, growth models, mobile payments, and interconnections. The clients of the Luciano Group include AT&T, Bharti/Zain, BT, China Telecom, France Telecom, KDDI, Qwest, Sprint, Telecom Italia, Telefonica, VSNL, Telekom Malaysia, Telenor, Verizon and others.
Prior to founding The Luciano Group, David was Senior Vice President with IDT Telecom, where he created over six million new EBIT dollars annually by building telecom and prepaid Visa card programs and prepaid calling card programs with Telecom Carriers and other partners. These partners included China Mobile, China Unicom, CITIC, Codotel, Etisalat UAE, GhanaTel, INDOSAT, Kenya Telkom, Maroc, Matav, MTN, Orange, PCCW, PLDT, Reliance, Singtel, Telekom Malaysia, Telkom South Africa, TPSA, Turk Telecom, and Vodacom among many others.
Growing experienced teams and negotiating partnerships has helped David grow businesses in other positions, including his CEO role at SoftZoo.com, where he successfully completed ASP licensing agreements with Corel, Sun Microsystems, Caligari, IXLA, and other ISV’s.
Earlier, David was the Business Development Officer for the MVNO division of Capital One. In this role, David was responsible for applying Capital One’ credit card business model to the mobile resale business. He designed and negotiated MNO relationships, with accounts such as Verizon Wireless, Alltel, AT&T Wireless, US Cellular, and others.
David is a frequent member of expert panel discussions at industry conferences. He graduated Boston College with a Bachelors of Arts, and earned an Executive MBA from the University of Miami.
