Regarding doorkeeper (http://doorkeeper.jp/): As Lars mentioned, this tool was originally developed for MobileMonday Tokyo with their requirements in mind. Thus what sets us apart from the other event ticketing services out there is that our target are not stand alone events but reoccurring ones. As such we have a member database, event announcements and such integrated. Also signup for existing members is very fast as they don’t need to fill in your survey yet another time.

Another strong point is our mobile check-in process, were we are using QR codes which can be scanned by many mobile handsets. So no special hardware is required at the door for the check-in, just a mobile handset with a QR code reader. – Those check-in handsets need to support cookies though, because they need to be registered beforehand so that check-ins are allowed from those handsets.

The service itself is currently free of charge. We are planning to charge a ticket fee on prepaid tickets.

Anyway, we are continuously working on improving Doorkeeper, and welcome any feedback. If anybody is considering using it for their chapter, please don’t hesitate to contact me and we can do a trial run together.
