Global ad campaigns Nokia WidSets is now open for advertising
14 May 2008 at 18:36 GMT Nokia is opening its WidSets service for advertisers. Content sharing mobile widget service WidSets has joined the Nokia Media Network, a premium advertising network comprised of more than 100 leading mobile publishers, to enable advertising experiences.
The WidSets service, currently available in 56 languages and featuring more than 5,000 widgets from brands such as Wall Street Journal, Twitter and weather service Foreca, now includes opportunities for advertisers. By placing advertisements within the service, brands can reach customers around the globe with a single campaign.
Bringing the Israeli mobile community together Tel Aviv joins Mobile Monday network

04 May 2008 at 16:46 GMT Nokia Music Store in Singapore is now "live" at www.music.nokia.com.sg. The store carries millions of tracks from major international artists, independent labels and Asian artists. People can buy music directly from their Nokia device or personal computer 24/7.
"Consumers now have instant access to millions of songs from a very wide gamut of genres ranging from pop to dance to Asian like Mandarin, Malay and Indian music," said Grant McBeath, General Manager, Nokia Singapore.

Ectel buys Compwise's Assets
04 May 2008 at 16:26 GMT Israel-based, Nasdaq listed ECtel Ltd., a provider of Integrated Revenue Management solutions, announced last week that it acquired substantially all assets of another Israel-based company Compwise, a provider of business analytic solutions for telecommunication operators, for approximately USD 1.3 million.
The acquisition is expected to be accretive to earnings.
A blow to smaller wireless carriers FCC decides to cap universal service fund payments
04 May 2008 at 16:16 GMT Federal Communications Commission voted to impose an interim cap on high-cost universal service fund payments to competitive eligible telecommunications carriers. This is seen as a blow to some smaller mobile-phone carriers that rely on subsidies to bring competitive services to underserved rural areas of the country.
The cap was one of the changes recommended by a federal-state joint board on universal service fund reform.
Collaboration on mobile services and personal social networks T-Mobile customers get Nokia's Ovi services

VTT Launches NoTA Conference
27 Apr 2008 at 21:00 GMT VTT Technical Research of Finland will launch the first international conference on Network on Terminal Architecture (NoTA2008) in Helsinki on June 11, 2008. The conference will bring together industry representatives to address business opportunities, service concepts and technology issues developing within the NoTA ecosystem. Keynote speakers include Ari Virtanen, Nokia Vice President of Convergence, Products and Devices as well as Tatu Koljonen, VTT Vice President, Strategic Research.
