Fighting to keep lead in digital business Apple cuts iPhone price

Apple Inc. announced Wednesday a sharp cut in the price of its iPhone and rolled out an iPod with a touch screen that can browse the Internet wirelessly.

CEO Steve Jobs also announced that Apple's iTunes Web music store will sell songs over wireless connections. The new feature will allow download of songs directly to an iPod rather than through computers.

According to Reuters, Apple is fighting to maintain its lead in the digital media business. The company faces new challenges from several rivals including Microsoft and Nokia.
