First part of MobileMonday Global Summit was concluded successfully today in Helsinki’s Wanha Satama exhibition center. Over one thousand people attended the Summit and its various seminars.

The second part gets underway Tuesday morning when a group of participants travels to the St. Petersburg venue to continue the Summit with Russian counterparts for the next two days.

The annual Vamos program seminar, a part of the Summit, drew 350 people. “This is the largest audience we have ever had,” commented the program coordinator Pauli Berg. Vamos is the EUR 200 million mobile enterprise program by Finnish technology funding agency Tekes.

The most keenly anticipated presentation was perhaps the one by COO Leif Fågelstedt of Blyk, the UK-based advertising funded virtual mobile operator. Fågelstedt assured that MVNO will start operations before the summer’s end and it has no network problems.

Fågelstedt’s presentation was short on news or hard data about the company, but he explained the company’s business model, which is based on targeted mobile advertising to an age group of 16 to 24.

  • The driving idea of Blyk is to unite advertising and young people through communication.

There are photos from Wanha Satama available for the press usage, but others interested can see them too at here. Rimma Lillemägi took the photos and she should credited.
