Nokia's backing Indagon opens Beijing door
Indagon Oy, a Finnish location technology company, with roots in Nokia Networks and financial backing from Nokia Early Stage Technology Fund, has gained an entry into Chinese mobile market.
Indagon’s China distributor, mDragonway Ltd and Beijing Mobile Communication Company (BMCC) have signed an agreement for implementing Indagon overlay A-GPS (GPS assistance and position data sent over internet protocol) system in Beijing.
The scalable, network agnostic solution allows BMCC to offer affordable and accurate positioning services to its customers.
The Indagon positioning system can support a unique combination of different positioning methods to ensure that location information is available in practically all terminal conditions, such as indoors, dense city areas and even fraud cases. The primary positioning is based on the high-accuracy A-GPS location method, backed by network-based positioning methods.
“Beijing Mobile Communication Company is a world-class mobile communications company and we are proud to be working with them to deliver new services for their customers,” said Matti Lankinen, CEO for Indagon Oy. “The joint efforts with mDragonWay and BMCC are beginning to deliver results, and this deployment in China is a major milestone for everyone.” Ip-assistance speeds up GPS-positioning
Indagon has developed a pioneering terminal-based, client-server location architecture that translates into high accuracy and high availability. The Indagon MTT 110 is a position device for any vehicle that needs tracking. It delivers data via an integrated GPRS terminal.
The Indagon Beacon collects the GPS assistance data from the GPS network of satellites. The Indagon Gateway then provides this assistance data to the Indagon MTT 110 and distributes the resulting telematics information to an application that manages the information.
Indagon develops, produces and sells high accuracy GPS-based end-to-end telematics terminals and systems. The company was founded in February 2002 by former Nokia employees with extensive experience in the positioning business. Indagon is based in Helsinki, Finland with sales offices in London UK and Beijing China.
