Handset revenue grew 25% LG Electronics lost market share

LG Electronics announced improved sales figures and operating margins in the first quarter.
Handset revenue was reported to be USD 2.5 billion, up nearly 25 percent from the year-ago quarter. Handsets represent about 38 percent of the diversified parent company’s sales.
The company did not report net profit of the handset business.
LG shipped 15.8 million, up more than 12 percent over the year-ago quarter.
The company’s operating margins in the mobile communications division was 4.7 percent, up from the 2.6 percent in the year-ago quarter.
According to Strategy Analytics, LG’s market share in the first quarter was 6.3.
