Smile, it’s Monday!

Now on six continents MobileMonday reaches Africa

MobileMonday movement reached its sixth continent when Johannesburg South Africa chapter had its first meeting on April 20th. The southernmost MobileMonday chapter had its meeting at the same times the Northernmost chapter had its first meeting in Oulu, Finland.

The Finnish ambassador Heikki Tuunanen open the MobileMonday Johannesburg with about one hundred participants from different companies.

The topic for the Johannesburg event was Mobility in Africa. Speakers for the event included Daniel Torras from Delta Partners, Toni Eliasz from Ungana African, Dylan Piatti from Cellsmart, ** Prejlin Naidoo** from Absa Bank and Iikka Väkiparta from Nokia South-Africa.

Teemu Kiijärvi from Mobiletools International, was one of the organizers of the event. He expressed satisfaction that so many had been able to find their nto the meeting in the chaotic traffic of the Johannesburg. According to Kiijärvi, also Cape Town has plans to start a MobileMonday chapter.

The next African MobileMonday will take place in Uganda on the connection with Digital Africa Summit on May 19-21. MobileMonday ceo Jari Tammisto says that the MobileMonday network produced report on the African communication will be presented at the summit in Munyonyo Commonwealth Resort on the shores of Lake Victoria in Kampala.
