Tammisto keynotes conference MobileMonday sets the tune for Turkish Time

MobileMonday was at centre stage as a partner in an important Turkish TIME (Telecom, Internet, Media and Entertainment industry) event on November 27th and 28th in Istanbul. MobileMonday’s CEO, Jari Tammisto opened the TIME 2007 with the keynote address of the regional development and Turkey’s future opportunities in the TIME industry.
In his keynote speech Tammisto highlighted the Hong Kong model of including the social networks into educational environments. He also praised the developments in the UK with regards to mobile advertising.
Turkey has Europe’s largest youth generation with some 40 million Turks under 25, and over 50 million mobile subscribers.
“Enabling the young generation to learn to utilize the mobile technology will later benefit national economy in many ways,” Tammisto said.
Tammisto and Ericsson’s General Manager for Turkey and Israel, Anders Lindblad emphasised the importance for Turkey to invest immediately in the mobile broadband to enable many new types of services for subscribers. In the discussion after the presentations it was estimated that Turkey will reopen the auction for 3G licenses in the first quarter of 2008.
TIME 2007 brought together some 400 leaders from operators, regulators, VC’s, media publishers and other industry influencers.
MobileMonday Istanbul has been operating for a year and has already established itself as the industry’s premium meeting arena. The theme of the December 3rd. MobileMonday Istanbul event is Mobile Economy and will take place at Ericsson Mobility World.
