IP communication clients across desktop and mobile Movial brings SMS to PC
Movial, the company providing the user experience of IP communication announced Monday the availability of its enhanced Connect PC 6.1, Connect Mobile 2.5 and Connect CE PocketPC 1.0 clients. With these new releases, operators can now offer even better integrated converged communication with a consistent user experience across devices.
Building on its already established cross-platform communication clients launched, amongst others, by Orange, the enhanced releases display a variety of new IP, SMS, and user experience functionality.
In order to increase the ease-of-use and converged communication, Connect PC 6.1 adds the possibility to send, receive, and manage SMS messages. Another convergence feature is the possibility to create mobile to PC and PC to mobile video calls. Other new functionality includes email notifications, updated skins, and enhanced standards support.
In addition to the desktop client, Connect CE PocketPC 1.0 offers the best VoIP quality services on Windows Mobile based PDA devices. The contacts and groups are managed through Outlook, and calls can be made from the client, but also through the Outlook plugin, making it easy for the user to communicate.
The user interface can be fully branded, and new functionality such as Presence and Multimedia Instant Messaging can be easily enabled as it is based on the Connect IMS application framework. Other functionality includes status information on the Today screen, dial pad, quick-dial and contact list filter, and multiple numbers support.
Connect Mobile clients for Symbian, Windows Mobile, and Linux now have the capability to utilize standards based protocols such as SIP based on IETF and 3GPP standards, XMPP, and OMA IMPS for Presence and Instant Messaging.
Victor Donselaar, unit manager says that Movial expects to have a number of high-profile customer launches to be announced this quarter.
