Nokia licenses predictive text also from Nuance Nokia hears nuances in speech
Nuance Communications and Nokia announced Wednesday a multi-year licensing agreement on predictive text and speech recognition. In August Nokia signed multi-year contract for Zi Corporation’s predictive eZiType and eZiText products.
Nokia and Nuance say in their press release that the agreement also establishes a strategic collaboration to advance an open integration framework for advanced input technologies that will foster innovation in the broader mobile developer ecosystem.
Nokia says that it will leverage Nuance’s mobile input solutions to provide users with a new class of intuitive mobile user interface enabling improved access to the many mobile applications and services that drive productivity, convenience, safety, and consumer experience.
“By working closely with Nuance on leveraging their broad portfolio of mobile input solutions and to open up a framework for industry collaboration, we’re not only able to take advantage of their predictive text and speech software solutions, but also help in the creation of a vibrant ecosystem – one wherein the mobile applications and services of tomorrow can develop and flourish at a faster rate than otherwise possible,” said Lee Williams Senior Vice President, Nokia.
Earlier this week Nuance also inked a deal with T-Mobile USA Inc. for its customer-care application.
