Nokia Monday kicked off a weeklong display of its expanding assortment of intelligent imaging devices and printing solutions, highlighted by the new Nokia 6670 megapixel smartphone.

Present for the first time at photokina, the biennial photographic and imaging sector trade fair in Cologne, Nokia is showcasing its commitment to delivering the benefits of mobile imaging in the areas of capturing, editing, viewing, sharing, printing and storing.

"Mobile imaging is on an explosive growth path. We foresee that already next year, three out of four digital capture devices will be camera phones," said Juha Putkiranta, Senior Vice President, Multimedia Imaging, Nokia. "With a broadening portfolio of smart, connected imaging devices and collaboration with the best players in the imaging industry, Nokia is well-positioned to drive this growth."

At photokina, Nokia is providing live demos, among others, of its range of megapixel imaging devices: the Nokia 6670, the Nokia 7610 and the Nokia 6630. These device demonstrations prove the benefits that mobility brings to imaging: the opportunity to take a photo or record video will never be lost as your device is constantly with you; secondly, you can immediately share images and video with others; and, thirdly, you can save images or video, for example in a virtual photo album on the web.

Nokia is also displaying it Image Frame and Image Album to direct printing in collaboration with Hewlett-Packard and Kodak. Visitors can also try on-screen photo, video and movie editing, and the Nokia Lifeblog, an automatic digital diary, which records and organizes digital content - such as images, videos or messages - creating a personal logbook or multimedia memo directly on the phone.

In the Nokia Business Lounge visitors can admire a set of photographs taken by Rankin, the highly acclaimed British fashion photographer. Rankin used a Nokia 7610 megapixel imaging device to craft six enchanting photographs accompanied by 60 inspiration shots. The photographs were inspired by the legendary Cottingley fairy photographs, which Rankin re-created with a modern twist using the latest technology from Nokia.
