Silicon & Software Systems Ltd. (S3) announced Friday that its onHandTV DVB?H software has been successfully integrated into a Philips smartphone platform.
Based on Philips Nexperia mobile platform, this solution demonstrates DVB-H/IPDC functionality from onHandTV tightly coupled with the advanced cellular capabilities of a high-end smartphone.
S3’s onHandTV is an IPDC over DVB-H software solution compliant with the emerging DVB-CBMS standard. First released in May 2005, targeting upcoming trials and commercial network launches, onHandTV delivers a complete solution, including protocol stacks, middleware, and applications, enabling accelerated time to market by delivering a low footprint, high performance, fully interoperable solution.
“S3 is a natural partner to showcase the richness of our TV-on-Mobile solution,” said Rutton Ruttonsha, BL Personal Entertainment Solutions General Manager, Philips Semiconductors.
“Their understanding of the emerging mobile TV market needs and the availability of onHandTV enables Philips to demonstrate the key features of our DVB-H solution”.
