Revenue tops one billion RIM quarterly profits soar 73 percent
Canada-based Research In Motion (RIM) reported first-quarter earnings up 73 percent on increased sales and subscriber additions.
RIM earned USD 223.2 million up from USD 128.8 million in the year-ago quarter.
Adjusted net income, which excludes a USD 5.3 million stock option expense, came to USD 228.5 million, RIM said.
The company's sales totaled USD 1.08 billion, up 77 percent from USD 613.1 million last year.
RIM said 76 percent of first-quarter revenue came from BlackBerry device sales.
RIM’s shares surged nearly 17 percent after the quarterly results.
