Bringing the Israeli mobile community together Tel Aviv joins Mobile Monday network
MobileMonday, the world’s largest volunteer network of mobile professionals, has active chapters all over the world, yet has been noticeably absent from Israel, a global high-tech capital. A Tel Aviv chapter of MobileMonday has been created by several local mobile entrepreneurs, and the chapter’s inaugural meeting will be held on May 12th.
The chapter was founded by Ofir Leitner, a mobile entrepreneur and blogger, who was joined by mobile enthusiasts Jasmine Aharon of Jajah and Aviv Revach of Mo’minis. Together the three produced the first event of the chapter. Other team members who joined are: Itamar Weisbrod of Cellogic, Ohad Barzilay of Realdice and Gilli Cegla of Novawind.
“Israel has been in need of a Mobile Monday chapter for quite some time. There’s an immense talent pool of mobile professionals, and having an active Mobile Monday chapter in Israel will be a great encouragement of creativity and dialogue for the local mobile scene“ said Ofir Leitner, founder of the Tel Aviv chapter. The core team hopes to build up the Tel Aviv chapter into an active monthly meet-up of local mobile professionals, and has already secured sponsorships from Partner Communications (Orange Israel), BlueRun Ventures, Sun Microsystems and Eurocom (Nokia Authorized Distributor in Israel). Mobile Monday Tel Aviv is open to people involved in the mobile industry, ranging from application developers, telecom professionals, mobile startups, bloggers, investors and other like-minded professionals. The chapter’s web site address is http://www.momotlv.com.
