Telefónica’s offer for large corporations Valimo authenticates mobile signatures in Spain and Turkey
Telefónica Móviles España is to deploy mobile signature solution to address the needs of large corporations. Ericsson España and Valimo Wireless provide Valimo’s end-to-end mobile signature service infrastructure for this service.
Mobile digital signing applications have become one of the most robust mechanisms for authentication and identification. This fact as well as the availability of cryptographic SIMs, has led Telefónica to launch its new mobile signature service, says Helsinki-based Valimo Wireless in its press release.
According to Valimo the new end-user service will initially be targeted at large corporations. Mobile signatures support strong authentication for web logins, remote access and the digital signing of transactions and documents. Telefónica’s mobile signatures also support future signature services for internet banking, online purchases and government services.
The Valimo solution has already been commercially deployed by over 40 customers around the world, including leading mobile operators in Finland, Kuwait, Slovenia and Turkey. Telefónica’s customer base increases the number of mobile subscribers with access to Valimo’s mobile signatures to over 58 million.
Ericsson España will act as prime integrator of the complete solution, including first line solution support and life cycle management responsibility.
Valimo is providing its end-to-end mobile signature solution including Valimo’s Validator MSSP, Messaging Server, Registration Server and the Valimo Mobile Authentication Client (VMAC). Valimo’s solution provides Telefónica with standardized signature-enabled SIM cards and independence from third-party over-the-air (OTA) systems.
“Generating a digital signature for authenticating yourself or signing documents is as easy as sending a short message,” says Jarkko Elonen, COO at Valimo
Turkcell signs with Valimo
Turkcell, the leading mobile operator in Turkey with 31.8 million customers, announced in February, that it has selected Valimo Wireless for its Mobile Signature project.
“TurkcellMobilImza” (mobile signature) will be announced to relieve users from the agony of standing in queues by securely bringing the electronic signature technology into mobile telephones, a press release said.
