VTT Launches NoTA Conference

VTT Technical Research of Finland will launch the first international conference on Network on Terminal Architecture (NoTA2008) in Helsinki on June 11, 2008. The conference will bring together industry representatives to address business opportunities, service concepts and technology issues developing within the NoTA ecosystem. Keynote speakers include Ari Virtanen, Nokia Vice President of Convergence, Products and Devices as well as Tatu Koljonen, VTT Vice President, Strategic Research.

About NoTA

Network on Terminal Architecture (NoTA) is a modular service based system architecture for mobile and embedded devices. It aims at solving the gaps between current product platforms and future requirements by proving superior performance and making effective horizontalisation possible via eased integration. NoTA entails various benefits in product development. Time-to-market is faster thanks to NoTA sub-systems, which reduce the time needed for vendor-specific requirements definition, implementation and integration phases. Scalability in integration level allows product companies to do fast cost-optimization without major R&D effort. Cost reductions are also achieved through more open competition, and reduced sub-system adaptation work. NoTA cuts down the complexity of devices, and clears the way for radical technology innovations also at hardware level by making the business more open. Moreover, NoTA helps product companies to meet end-user needs through enabling higher performance and completely new features in digital convergence devices.

The NoTA concept was initially developed by the Nokia Research Center, but has now been widely adopted in the industry. The licensing and usage models being defined will support the openness and rapid exploitation of NoTA. Sign up for the conference is located at www.vtt.fi/nota2008.
