Mitch Lazar comes from Turner Yahoo names a new European Nokia contact
Yahoo! has named Turner Broadcast System’s Mitch Lazar as European head of its Connected Life division, which oversees broadband, mobile and the digital home. According to Digital Bulletin, UK, Lazar will report to Jim Schinella, global vice-president of business development for Connected Life, based in the US. Lazar will be based in London and he will be responsible for Yahoo! relationships with European mobile and broadband operators including BT and Nokia. Lazar spent 12 years at Turner. His last position was a vice-president of wireless and emerging technology, overseeing the global wireless strategy for CNN, Cartoon Network and TCM. Lazar, now a vice-president of business development for Connected Life, said: “I want to grow Yahoo!’s footprint as the leading destination for mobile and broadband users across Europe through key partnerships with mobile carriers, manufacturers and broadband providers.” Yahoo! Connected Life has partnerships with companies including BT, SBC and Verizon, as well as a deal with Sprint to provide mobile access to Yahoo! Mail and a deal with Research in Motion to provide Yahoo! Messenger on Blackberrys. It also provides mobile search for Nokia and has a deal with Motorola to provide applications for mobile devices, cars and homes.Related News
