Chicago has a growing community of mobile entrepreneurs and startups. “I have an Idea, now What?” focuses on different ways to protect your intellectual property (inventions) during all stages of development. An overview of available types of protection including Confidential / Non-Disclosure Agreements, Patents, Trademarks, Trade Secrets, and Copyrights will be discussed, including advantages and strategies for each. This is an important presentation for entrepreneurs, developers, designers, sales & marketing, and anyone else thinking of starting a company — whether or not it has a mobile focus.

ABOUT THE SPEAKERS
Joseph Herndon and Atanu Das are patent attorneys at the law firm of McDonnell Boehnen Hulbert & Berghoff LLP (MBHB). Mr. Herndon is a partner at MBHB with experience in all areas of patent and trademark law practice including patent prosecution and litigation work. Mr. Herndon represents Fortune 500 companies that span a diverse range of technologies including telecommunications, mobile Internet platforms, computer networking, aerospace/automation and control, semiconductors, consumer electronics, and universities as well as individual inventors. Mr. Das is an associate at MBHB with experience in preparing and prosecuting patent applications, conducting legal research, and providing technological advice in support of validity, infringement and patentability analyses, and litigation in electrical engineering , computer networking, telecommunications, mobile technology, and electro-mechanical matters. Prior to embarking on his legal career, Mr. Das was a systems engineer at a major telecommunication equipment manufacturer, where he focused on drafting specifications for data networking and telecommunications products.
