MobileMonday – Bringing the Community Together
MobileMonday (MoMo) is an open community platform of mobile industry visionaries, developers and influential individuals fostering brand neutral cooperation and cross-border P2P business opportunities through live networking events to demo products, share ideas and discuss trends from both local and global markets. Originating in Helsinki in 2000, MoMo became an industry leading platform with local Chapter locations spanning over 140 cities worldwide and activities organized by +300 volunteers who have run thousands of events to-date.

We stand on merit: equal-neutral-open, where positions should be tested through vigorous debate and serendipity breeds in casual spaces. We also believe that initiative and risk-taking should be honored and that the mobile industry plays a key role in shaping society. There is a direct relation between connectivity and the power of informed communities combined with personal networks. The MoMo platform is a tool to help achieve benefits for all by spreading knowledge and encouraging people with good ideas to take action. As ‘mobile folks,’ we invite you to consider how we can contribute – together – towards improving daily lives in meaningful ways for current and future generations.

MobileMonday History
The remarkable MobileMonday phenomenon began almost by accident in Helsinki, Finland during the autumn of 2000. A couple of well-known Finnish visionaries, invited the who’s who of the Finnish mobile industry to a pub for an informal get-together and ‘perhaps’ a few drinks. The only suitable time? After meeting many new faces and discussing the latest in mobility, the group decided to continue meeting on the first Monday every month, and MobileMonday was born. Towards the end of 2004, the movement began to spread to other areas of the world and new MoMo chapters launched in Tokyo, Japan, Silicon Valley, USA as well as Rome Italy. Since then the number of locations has dramatically increased, with the debut of our 100th city location in Islamabad in the spring of 2010, making MobileMonday the world’s leading mobile community network.
