A record crowd of more than 300 Philadelphia-area technology professionals and entrepreneurs were on hand last night as Mobile Monday Mid-Atlantic hosted its 3rd Annual DEMO Night. DEMO Night gives mobile-related businesses from the Mid-Atlantic region the chance to present their products, innovations or business ideas to an audience of local and national industry experts, entrepreneurs, investors and media.
Ten local companies were each given five minutes to present their products, ideas and visions to a standing-room-only crowd. Attendees were able to rate the presentations via their mobile phones courtesy of real-time surveying and polling provided by Philadelphia-based start-up Yorn.
Congratulations go to the winner of the Mobile Monday Members’ Choice Award, Venmo, a simple, fun way to collect and send money in person using your cellphone, by sending a text message.
Close behind in 2nd and 3rd place respectively were ReadySetWork, an employee scheduling tool, and PlaySay, a fully customizable mobile language learning service.
The audience were also able to hear updates from PhindMe Mobile (since acquired by Movitas), and Smarter Agent, both alumni of past Mobile Monday Mid-Atlantic DEMO Nights.
Thanks go to all of our presenters (full details below) as well as to Philadelphia City Councilman At-Large, Bill Green, for his introductory keynote, and to all of our sponsors (Morgan Lewis, ETF Venture Funds, CLEAR, and Ecquire).

Next up was AirClic – headquartered in Trevose, PA. AirClic provides real-time information for mobile workforces easily and quickly from handset applications designed to streamline and automate data captured from field operations.
The third company to present, CLEAR, is the largest provider of ‘4G wireless broadband’ service in the United States. With speeds up to five times faster than that of 3G networks, it gives users the same speeds they are used to at home or the office, but on the go. CLEAR offers products to plug in or to create your own hotspot, both at home and on the go.
Liquid Interactive showcased SOCIALTIVITY, a social media content manager that decreases staff time devoted to social networking sites because they can all be managed from the platform.
Mobile Attainment featured Success Advisor, an application designed for executive coaching, and looks to connect with training organizations, large corporations, self-improvement programs and health maintenance organizations.
PlaySay took third place in the voting as they demonstrated a fully customizable language learning service. PlaySay empowers busy people to extract value from any idle minute, by learning a language one word at a time.
Second place in the voting went to ReadySetWork, an employee scheduling tool designed by restaurateurs looking to maximize efficiency and cut down on the pain point that is coordinating staffing schedules.
Snac presented its downloadable app which creates a personalized dashboard, or alternative home screen, mimicking an iPhone user interface. This application is available on more than 300 different types of phones across all major networks.
The team at Venmo presented their social text payment solution and preached “cash and checks are inconvenient and your friends don’t take credit cards.” Highlighting their service, the team demonstrated its product in action as they encouraged attendees to donate money for a sponsored relief mission to Haiti.
Yuxi Pacific Group rounded out the evening showcasing their mobile banking application that enables banking customers to deposit checks for anywhere at any time. Banks are charged a one-time fee to customize the application and banking customers can download the application from the iTunes store. A convenience for customers while allowing smaller banks to compete with bigger banks in the space.
