Iphone VS Palm Pre

It’s good to see that the market works, even if it took some time to react and even more that the reactor is a new comer to the market, Palm.
But what I’m I talking about? The new battle for the USA market and yeah, the rest of the world. In the States Verizon launched the Iphone and brought the market to the European standards but Sprint reacted with the Instinct… no go. When messing with the Iphone you’re messing with… well a very big, sexy and attractive brand, no phone would be a match.
Now Apple is launching it new 3.0 and Sprint is fighting back with the Palm Pre. Who will win? Well here is the thing, it will depend on the consumers but the reactions have been good. Make yourself the comparison, here is the link for the Palm Pre http://www.palm.com/us/products/phones/pre/ and here is the link for the Iphone 3.0 http://www.apple.com/iphone/preview-iphone-os/. The specialists are saying that the Palm Pre is a real contender but aggainst the Iphone they´re not putting they heads on the guillotine, they know what happen is the past. For same reason the new Iphone will cost less than the old… could this be just wild guest? No! But all agree on one thing, Palm Pre doesn’t had a applications market like the Iphone, at least until now.
Here in Europe and, of course in Portugal, mobile companies are trying to have a voice against the Iphone. Why? Because for the first time it’s the cellphone companies dictating the rules not operators. Operators don´t want to be put off the loop and they just don’t want be seen as a company that gives a phone/internet service. Even because they can see on a long term, and see what other markets are doing, and they see if they lose a grip on the market they will lose their stand. Just to give you an example, take a look at this UK operator, http://www.three.co.uk/, this company is giving its clients full access to skype call and internet included… this is the graw clouds!
In Portugal, Vodafone and Optimus introduced the Iphone a year ago and brought a change to the markey. TMN being left out the Iphone race camed back with the Samsung Omnia. The real difference in this is that for the first time operators had to agree with the rules of Apple and this introduced to the market an Apple that was subsidized and with pay plans better then existed, with internet access even. Now Vodafone strikes back with the Blackberry Storm. Change? No, they see the potential of the smartphone market, but they know the dangers.
Let’s see what will happen next.
