2009 Wrap up-Happy New Year 2010!
Posted on: December 14, 2009 – Filed under: Zurich
As we reach the end of 2009, your Mobile Monday Switzerland committee would like to thank all our members, speakers, hosts and sponsors for a GREAT year!
A few dedicated people would probably still being organizing MoMo events if you didn’t come, but (let’s be honest) we have more fun when we have a crowd!
The Mobile Monday Switzerland chapter has reached critical mass. Over the course of 2009 nearly 350 of you took time out of your busy schedules, some coming from other countries (Germany, France, Lithuania, UK, Austria) or across Switzerland, to attend one or more of our events. We say “critical mass” because we have entered a viral stage of growth (each meeting is larger than the previous) thanks to your telling your friends and colleagues about our meetings. And, not only are people attending, we want to thank you for all your interaction, questions, feedback in various forms.
Your inputs over the past year have helped us to make sure our topics and speakers are meeting the needs of a rapidly expanding and diverse group of people. To quickly get a snap shot of our past events, please visit this page. If you would like to learn more about a topic we covered or download the slides, the individual event pages remain available for reference.
Your Mobile Monday Switzerland committee is looking ahead and hope that you will find our 2010 schedule of meetings equally (or even more) interesting. As announced at our recent meeting, the next MoMo will be on February 1 in Fribourg on the campus of the HES-SO. This event will be focusing on Android applications and how Android is changing the mobile landscape.
We are also experimenting with new formats for our meetings in the next few months. Stay tuned to learn more about how you can prepare for a very “hands on” event featuring Augmented Reality, one of the hottest emerging trends in mobile in 2009, which will take place in Zurich on March 1, 2010. Hint: get a smart phone!
Near Field Communications (NFC) will be our topic for April 2010. Since the first Monday in April is a holiday, please mark your calendars and plan to join us on April 12, 2010.
Remember that Mobile Monday is a global phenomenon. Wherever you are traveling in the world, please remember that through this chapter you are a member of a larger organization. There are Mobile Monday meetings in many cities. We hope that you will introduce yourself to those other chapters and share with us what you learn from them so that we may continue to grow.
We do not ever expect to reach the size of the biggest Mobile Monday chapters around the world, but we will continue strive to bring you high quality content and an environment in which you can meet and get to know mobile industry professionals in Switzerland.
The Mobile Monday Switzerland team wishes you and all those around you a very, very Happy Holiday season and we look forward to seeing you in 2010!
