Dear Speakers, Organizers and Sponsors and MoMo Movers,

I would like to thank each of you for contributing to another great Mobile Monday event. Simon Kaheru was magnificent as ever as Master of Ceremonies, Chair and Moderator all rolled into one, and each of the four presentations was dazzling, as I’m sure you will agree; I am still struggling to assimilate the many insights and circumspect views that are beyond my ken. My heartfelt thanks to each of you in appreciation for your pulling out the stops in reaching out to each other and our delegates, touching hearts and stimulating our minds, to stir ourselves by your thought-provoking messages, images conveyed by your words and gestures, as we attempt to light the path for the way ahead in the mobile apps arena through our discussions and debate. Bravo!

Thanks also are due to our hosts, Google Uganda, Elijah Kitaka, who had come to me to offer to host the event, encouraged me to follow up and guided me in the selection of the theme – who also provided the great sound system with cordless mikes, and laid on some fine expansive Jazz to set the tone for arriving delegates, and Kyle Spencer, who worked with me on all the little details that go into making a successful event, taking me with him riding on the back of his motorcycle to see the selection of chairs that we could rent, and making sure that everything worked on the night – and managed to bring the Flaming Chicken catering team to enhance our informal networking. Thanks also to SMS Media who have been steadfast in providing the logistical support through hosting our MoMoKla database, managing the reception and sending out SMS to our delegates. Thanks also to Simon Vass and Ashis Brahma, stalwart MoMoers who are always there were you need them, to give that extra bit of timely assistance that keeps things going on an even keel despite last minute hitches.

And thanks most of all to you dear MoMoers, who came to our meeting, watched and listened to our speakers with great expectations, posed questions and made comments and generally contributed to making the evening such a roaring success. Someone commented that you know it was a great event when the Q&A session carries on long after the stainless steel food trays have been opened. To put things into perspective, by your combined efforts in producing a most successful first event of the year, MoMo Kampala is off to a great start, with excellent prospects for greater things to come. Thank you, all of you!

Thanks to our website team, Allan Nsengiyumva, Joseph Owino and Douglas Onyango, you may see photos and download slide presentations and a copy of the “One Year” Programme. If any of you have photos from the event that you would like have posted on our website could you please send them to me, or if you have uploaded videos to YouTube could you please send the links?

As announced during the meeting, the deadline for submission of projects for the WSA Contest is fast approaching. I would therefore urge you to read through the Press Release on momokla.ug Latest News and submit a project for the contest. Those who have submitted an entry for the WSA Contest will be given an opportunity to present a five-minute elevator pitch at Hive Colab on the afternoon of Tuesday 15 March, starting at 3 PM. A jury of experts will score the presentations and winning candidates in each of the eight categories will be sent to the WSA organizers for review.

Our next MoMo Kampala meeting is set for 28th March at MTN Nyonyi Gardens to be hosted by Grameen Foundation AppLab on a financial inclusion theme. You don’t want to miss it, so pencil that in on your calendar.

If you have any ideas on a theme for a future meeting, or would like to sponsor or host an event please don’t hesitate to get in touch.

With thanks and best wishes to all, Daniel
