Michigan Businesses Challenged by Mobile Infrastructure Questions

Local Mobile Industry Group, Mobile Monday Detroit Offers Information to Aid Enterprise-level and Small Businesses Get Needed Answers about Mobile Infrastructure at Upcoming Event

DETROIT, MI – Businesses at all levels are now starting to participate in the mobile space, but to facilitate that participation, they need tools and applications that solve their key infrastructure management issues. As small businesses and enterprise companies begin to fully embrace mobile, there are hundreds of decisions, software integrations, and compliance processes that need to be considered.

Therefore, businesses are seeking knowledge and resources to help with questions such as:

How do I track and protect my enterprise data from loss?

How can we extend virtualization across all device types and form factors?

Should we build platform-specific or web-based version of our key enterprise applications?

What happens to my LAN and all these PCs and printers?

To assist Michigan companies in gaining the insights needed to begin making these decisions, the focus of the March 14th Mobile Monday Detroit meeting will be, ‘Mobile Infrastructure’.

The featured speaker for the evening will be Tom Gardner, Manager, East Michigan Solution Engineering for Sprint Nextel. Tom will speak on the technical aspects of 4G Networks, as well as the opportunities that 4G provides for consumer and enterprise-level applications.

Tom has been part of the Sprint Solution Engineering team in Michigan for 11 years, where his main focus is aiding customers in choosing or developing the wireless data solutions to meet their firm’s needs. Prior to joining Sprint, Tom spent 7 years with Lucent Technologies as a Technician and National Service Manager providing support to the auto manufacturers, and 3 years in the telecom department at Compuware.

Additionally, the group has added new program segments to the meeting agenda, they include:

· “Mobile News of the Month” where brief summaries of mobile-related news during the previous month will be presented; audience members will be urged to discuss the impact each item may have on mobile and the industries using mobile.

· “Everything you ever wanted to know about mobile, but were afraid to ask”. For this segment, index cards will be available during registration and the networking portion of the meeting, where attendees can write down questions related to mobile. These questions DO NOT need to be related to the meeting topic. The cards will be collected prior to the start of the program, then read to the audience; with responses to the questions being sought from the audience. The goal is to enable mobile experts in the audience to showcase their expertise, and to allow those who may be in need of services or further information to identify people they can reach out to after the program concludes.

The Mobile Monday Detroit event will be held on Monday, March 14th from 5:30 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at the Compuware Building located at One Campus Martius in Detroit. Attendance is Free, though space is limited and registration in advance is required. Those interested in attending may register at http://meetup.com/Mobile-Monday-Detroit.
