Launching at this year’s GITEX show – the largest technology and telecom trade show in the Middle East – the first MoMo Dubai event will debut in style at the TiE Entrepreneurs Lounge, Mobile Apps & Content Showcase, Sheikh Saeed Halls, Dubai World Trade Centre at 6pm on October 10, 2011.

We invite all stakeholders of the mobile industry to join us at the launch of MoMo in Dubai and to become active members and participants of its future events. MoMo is a not for profit initiative set up for the mobile community by mobile enthusiasts and aims to bring together people from all around the world together to explore mutual opportunities through its network of chapters worldwide.

MoMo Dubai Chapter Founders:

Alper Celen:
Alper is the Managing Partner of Commit Network, an innovation bridge between MENA mobile operators and cutting edge global service innovators. Alper is enthusiastic about all things mobile and previously worked for the industry at McKinsey, Nokia, IBM, Ansys, and his own mobile startup OpenThird. After seeing the benefits of MOMO Boston first hand, he is looking forward to helping make Dubai a regional mobile hub.

Prashant ‘PK’ Gulati:
PK is the CEO of Optimistix Ventures, a serial entrepreneur and telecom professional with two decades of experience in the Middle East, Africa and the Indian subcontinent. With interests in the space of mobility, wireless, web services, mobile apps and leading edge technologies, he has a portfolio of such ventures spread over the world. He is closely connected with not for profit ventures like TiE, IBPC, The Hatch, AIC and MoMo.

Christos Mastoras:
Christos is the Director of Business Development at Yahoo! Maktoob based in Dubai heading up strategic partnerships, alliances, M&A and corporate venturing across the MENA region. Previously he was with Booz & Company’s TMT practice working on strategic projects with mobile operators in the region, and has operating experience in launching high-tech ventures including Upstream, a leading mobile content & applications provider. Christos is keen to work with mobile start-ups and help develop the broader entrepreneurial ecosystem in the Middle East. He holds an MBA from MIT Sloan School of Management and a BS from Georgetown University.

Sean Smith:
Sean is the Chief Commercial Officer of SMSGlobal, a mobile messaging company specializing in enterprise messaging solutions founded in Australia. He has actively participated in the MoMo community in Melbourne Australia and having relocated to Dubai with the opening of the SMSGlobal Dubai and London offices wanted to continue his involvement in the Mobile Community with a local Dubai MoMo chapter.

Lawrence Zikusoka:
Lawrence is a Systems Integration Customer Project Manager at Ericsson Region Middle East and Africa. He has 10+ years of telecoms experience in mobile, fixed and satellite networks, telecentres, m-health, IT consulting, media and applications domains across 4 continents in 10 different countries – UAE, Nigeria, South Africa, Madagascar, the Congo, Uganda, India, Kosovo, USA and France.  During this time, he has worked with du, Airtel, Deloitte, MTN Group, GSMA, CTPH and UN agencies. Lawrence was part of the networking group that started MoMo Kampala in Uganda.  He holds a Master of Science in Telecommunications from State University of New York Institute of Technology and will attend the Executive Education Social Entrepreneurship Program at INSEAD Business School.
