The Mobile Monday spirit is one of open innovation and is recognized as a catalyst for development in the mobile industry. For Mobile Monday Lusaka a particular focus shall be placed on capturing and utilizing the potential of the fast growing and young African middle class market and to enable people with lower income to become a part of the developments in the mobile world.

Mobile Monday Lusaka shall contribute to fostering cooperation and business development in the Zambian mobile sector. Professionals from the following companies / organizations shall be part of Mobile Monday Lusaka: Telecom operators, Telecom network managers, Mobile internet service providers, Mobile services start-ups, Software developers, Hardware manufacturers, Banks, Micro finance institutions, Financial consultancies, Private equity firms, Law firms, Donor agencies and Academia etc.

The launch live meeting is scheduled for 17.30 on 21 May 2012 at TopFloor, Addis Ababa roundabout, Elunda Two building. Live meetings shall be conducted 6 – 8 times per year. The meetings shall be hosted either by a conference venue or by a company / organisation in the Zambian mobile industry. In addition to venues, sponsorship will be needed for website, membership administration and snacks/drinks at the events. Media shall be invited to the meetings.

Thematic presentations and discussion themes shall be chosen in order to maximize the interest to participate in the live meetings for senior and middle management, entrepreneurs and investors / financing institutions.

The launch event for Momo Lusaka was attended by 100+ participants and some of the big names in the Mobile and telecommunications industry both local and international.

Our Speakers were:

– Mr. Mark Bennett: Former M.D of Africonnect and current Director of iSchool Zambia
– Robert Schumann: Manager at Analysys Mason and event moderator
– Simunza Muyangana and Gilbert Mwiinga: BongoHive Representatives
– Judith D. O’Neill – CMAS Holdings

There were also representatives from the World Bank who were in attendance.
