======== Follow-up Report ==========================
On behalf of Mobile Monday Lusaka and implementing partner BongoHive, we would like to thank those of you present yesterday for contributing to making our 2nd MoMo Lusaka event on 25 June 2012 another great MoMo meeting for learning, interaction and networking.
Our theme of the evening was “Local Content and Apps Development in Zambia”, a pressing subject indeed. Mulenga Kapwepwe, artist and author, started out with an entertaining speech on the practical use of applications proving that apps can really be useful in the local perspective, “fireworks”… Cathy Phiri, Media365, added to this understanding and generously shared with us some of her experiences from MTV and the media content side, “content is king”…. Boyd Chipeta, Airtel Zambia, took us on a tour for understanding how a locally developed app could be successful within Airtel’s business model. And Mathews Mwewa, Ericsson, by presenting DDS – a key feature in Ericsson’s billing system – showed us how a garage product from Soweto can become a technical solution with global reach.
Thanks to all of the mentioned speakers and to Lukonga Lindunda and Simunza Muyangana, BongoHive, for valuable comments and elegant moderation of the meeting.
Thanks again to TopFloor, for hosting the event in TopFloor’s wonderful premises. And thanks to Airtel Zambia for sponsoring the bar and snacks, making the networking session into the efficient and relaxed meeting arena we are seeking.
It is probably no understatement that most of us left the meeting with a refreshed “follow your passion” and “just do it” state of mind.
