The monthly events will be engaging interviews and panel discussions covering the very diverse topics under the mobile innovation umbrella. We’re bringing together industry innovators from both the enterprise and start-up worlds to share their unique perspectives and best practice.

Bob Schukai
Global Head of Mobile Technology

Bob Schukai is the Global Head of Mobile Technology for Thomson Reuters, with responsibility for overseeing the development and execution of the mobile growth strategy across the organization. His remit includes the creation and deployment of system platforms, business model development, world-class user experiences, and new business opportunities. He is also the recently appointed ambassador to New York City and the east coast of the United States for the London Tech City initiative, driven by the British government and the United Kingdom Trade and Investment group.

Prior to joining Thomson Reuters, Schukai was the Vice President of Wireless/Broadband Technologies for Turner Broadcasting System, Inc., (TBS, Inc.) from 2005-2010. During that time, he was responsible for global research and development activities for TBS, Inc. in the areas of mobile/wireless, broadband, Internet protocol television (IPTV) and games. He also led the technology strategy and deployment for Turner’s mobile web and applications platforms, including analytics and advertising solutions. Schukai represented parent company Time Warner, Inc. in the Open Mobile Alliance broadcast working group, which is tasked with developing globally interoperable standards for mobile telephony. He also served as an Industrial Board member for the Mobile Virtual Centre of Excellence, based in the United Kingdom.

Schukai spent eighteen years working for Motorola, Inc., in the United States and United Kingdom. In his last role at Motorola, he served as director of global 3G strategy and business development for Motorola, overseeing global strategy and business development activities for 3G handsets. While at Motorola, he held roles in research and development, product development, engineering management, marketing, strategy, and business development.

Schukai holds a Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering from Rose- Hulman Institute of Technology and a Master’s degree in electrical engineering from Arizona State University. He is a 27-year member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), a technical and professional association of more than 365,000 individual members in approximately 150 countries.

Christopher Gonzalez

Christopher Gonzalez is the Director of Mobile Product Management at Gilt, where he oversees the strategy, concept and execution of 13 mobile products across multiple platforms. Under his leadership, Christopher has launched redesigns of the company’s award-winning mobile apps for iPhone and iPad, as well as major updates to its Android app, mobile website, Gilt Japan app and Gilt City app. He also oversaw the rollout of international shipping across all mobile channels, a customizable push notification platform, and an innovative app for Gilt Taste utilizing hand-motion technology for navigation.

Christopher brings with him an extensive background in digital and mobile product management. Prior to joining Gilt, he served as the Director of Product Management, Mobile Applications for Condé Nast Digital, where he spearheaded mobile app development at the company and brought more than 15 successful products to market for brands including Epicurious, Style.com, GQ, Vanity Fair, Glamour and Wired. He also spearheaded the creation of the Interactive Product Group, an R&D lab for new ideas and products.

Christopher previously held positions as Senior Product Manager for Social Media at Conde Nast Digital, Executive Editor of Conde Nast Digital’s teen sites, and Director of Hearst’s Teen Network where he oversaw business and editorial initiatives for iVillage, Seventeen.com, CosmoGIRL.com, Teenmag.com, and gURL.com. He also served as Production Manager of Delia’s Interactive, designing and building original web content, as well as a media trainer leading video and web site production workshops for Lincoln Center, the Public Theater, and AmericCorps.

Outside of being a co-organizer for Mobile Monday New York, J also founded the Chicago Mobile Meetup, the largest mobile special interest group in Chicago with over 2,000 members. J was recently inducted into the Entrepreneurship Hall of Fame, Chicago TechWeek 100, was awarded the University of Illinois College of Engineering Young Alumnus of the Year Award and has had recent mobile work inducted into the Computerworld Hall of Fame.
