Mobile Monday Kampala will officially launch on March 8th 2010

Be part of shaping the mobile industry in Uganda! The mobile community of Kampala is proud to announce the official launch of Mobile Monday Kampala, the first east African chapter of Mobile Monday, the global community of mobile industry professionals, startups, developers and visionaries. MobileMonday Kampala – called MoMoKla – has already held a founders’ meeting on January 20 and a thematic event on February 15, titled The Future of Mobile Broadband.
The theme for the March 8 official launch is “Mobile Innovation: Services and Startups.” It will be sponsored by SMS Media, SMS One, True African, Blue Cube, Digital Solutions and Yo! Uganda. The launch will take place at 5 p.m. at the Munyono Speke Resort, which is on the eve of the Eighth Annual Digital Africa Summit, the leading event for digital infrastructure players in Africa.
The core MoMoKla team has put together a panel of speakers who share a passion for mobile applications and innovations. Speakers will include Jari Tammisto, CEO of MobileMonday Global. Speakers from Kampala will include: Isaac Nsereko, MTN’s CMO; Bas Hoefman, CEO of TexToChange; and Prof Idris Rai, associate Professor in Communication Networks at Makerere University. and will encourage the open exchange of ideas in an innovative and informal conference style event.
The MobileMonday community is a grassroots living laboratory of ideas, demos, pilots, bench-marking and socio-economic developments. The goal of the monthly gatherings is to enable the membership to debate and develop smart ideas into commercially successful products and services. MobileMonday chapters are widely regarded as the cutting edge of mobile innovation in over 100 cities around the world. MoMoKla is proud to be the first African chapter of MobileMonday outside South Africa.
