Microsoft Plans to Integrate Windows Phone 7

Microsoft Corp. said its forthcoming Windows Phone 7 platform will be integrated with its Xbox console. “The idea is not to make a mobile version of Halo, as such, the idea is to extend gaming to mobile,” Vesa-Matti Paananen, a Microsoft business development executive based in Finland, said at a Mobile Monday event in Tallinn, Estonia.

Game records could be synchronized in the cloud so that players might be required to accomplish certain tasks on the phone before they could get to the next level on the console, he said.

The company’s “three-screen approach” currently means mobile, personal computer and console, he said. “We are going to announce more on the IPTV side, but right now the third screen refers to the game console,” he said. Via: Bloomberg
