SAFIPA is presenting a Technology and Business Skills Capacity Building Programme for SMME’s and other relevant role players in the ICT and mobile sector.  We are pleased to invite you to the "ICT and Mobile Business Building Programme" which consists of five modules.

The first module will be presented on 8 and 9 November 2010 at the Meraka Institute (CSIR) in Pretoria and will cover the following topics presented by various experts:

MODULE 1: Business planning in the 21st century

November, 8, 2010 (8:00- 16:30)

Session 1 and 2: Business  modelling and pricing (for the knowledge economy)- Dr Anton Botha and Joe Manchu

Technology, market, economy and consumer shifts

What is knowledge, what is the knowledge economy, competitive knowledge, how to set up a business in this economy

Deciding on the right market, products and technologies, reducing risk in setting up new ventures, pricing for appropriate market adoption profile, what motivates people to buy, success potential determinants of a new enterprise

November, 9, 2010 (8:00- 16:30)

Session 3: (Business) Strategy Planning –  Steve Giddings

Stages of readiness of product, market and business growth and the business planning that goes with it.

Session 4: Technology roadmaps and trends- Dr Kari Leppälä

Technology dynamics, forecasting and evolution viewpoints.

Session 5: Technology transfer- Dr Kari Leppälä

Change, culture, absorptive capability, core competence, endogenic process

The ICT AND MOBILE BUSINESS BUILDING PROGRAMME Modules 1 to 5 are compiled as follow (preliminary – subject to change):

The total course structure comprises 5 modules: (A preliminary comprehensive structure of all modules and potential dates is attached)

1. Business Planning  (8&9 Nov 2010)

2. Pitching and funding SPII and VC real time (1&2 Dec 2010)

3. Market research, communication and branding (1 Feb 2011)

4. Technology platforms, mobile, cloud competing (2&3 March 2011) to be coordinated by mLab Southern Africa (newly found infoDev Mobile Applications Laboratory)

5. Networking, open source, crowd sourcing, collaboration (4 April 2011)

Candidates who complete all modules and assignments will receive an attendance certificate.
