With only as many as ten percent of the people having proper bank accounts, and another eight percent enjoying the benefits of owning accounts in microfinance institutions (MFIs), and savings and credit cooperatives (SACCOs) there was a lot of work to be done to achieve financial inclusion. However mobile money was …

infoDev – Mobile Monday Kampala Focus Group

infoDev, the World Bank’s information for development program, and Mobile Monday Kampala are conducting research around the relationship between informal, interpersonal networks and innovation in the mobile industry in Uganda and Kenya. The study will critically assess the expectation that informal networks contribute to innovation success. In doing so, it will focus on the Mobile Monday Kampala chapter as an example of an informal network of mobile developers in Uganda. The results of the research will be available publicly, and will be circulated to our MoMoKla community. Please join us for this focus group discussion, to be followed by a light lunch. Thanks message to delegates, speakers, sponsors One Year Feb 2011 at Google Uganda

Dear Speakers, Organizers and Sponsors and MoMo Movers,

I would like to thank each of you for contributing to another great Mobile Monday event. Simon Kaheru was magnificent as ever as Master of Ceremonies, Chair and Moderator all rolled into one, and each of the four presentations was dazzling, as I’m sure you will agree; I am still struggling to assimilate the many insights and circumspect views that are beyond my ken. My heartfelt thanks to each of you in appreciation for your pulling out the stops in reaching out to each other and our delegates, touching hearts and stimulating our minds, to stir ourselves by your thought-provoking messages, images conveyed by your words and gestures, as we attempt to light the path for the way ahead in the mobile apps arena through our discussions and debate. Bravo! […]
