It took us a while, but we were finally able to confirm the attendance of our two speakers from Chikka and Numlock Solutions! From Chikka we have its enigmatic CEO, Chito Bustamante.  The inspired name “Chikka”, slang for small talk, first rolled out of Chito’s mouth while watching Philippine TV in San Francisco. He was one of those Silicon Valley Engineers frequently mentioned in any history of Chikka, and he gave validation to the venture’s business and technical viability when it was but a gleam in the eyes of other Chikka founders.  On a visit to Manila in early 2000, …

Mobile Monday Manila is back in June for Startup Stories!  This June 13 we’ll be holding our meeting at the German Club.  We’ll have speakers from Chikka and Numlock Solutions to give us an idea on what makes and breaks a mobile startup.

We’re putting the final touches for our meeting and will bring you more information within the week.  Attendance is free as usual.  There will be free drinks (beer, softdrinks, water) and finger food.  If you would like something heavier, feel free to order from the German Club’s menu at your own expense.

If the success of MobileMonday Manila’s opening night last May 9 is any indication, the Philippines’ mobile professionals will have exciting Mondays to look forward to. MobileMonday is a global community, and Manila is the 121st city in the world to have its own MobileMonday chapter. MobileMonday Manila (or MoMoManila) provides a neutral venue for mobile visionaries, developers and individuals to share ideas, discuss trends, and network for the benefit of the entire mobile sector.

This June we’re holding a startup stories night! We’re calling all startups with an interesting product that harnesses mobile technologies and want to give a 15 minute pitch to an audience.   

Here’s how it’s going to be.  You are a startup with a product that makes use of mobile technologies.  You get in contact us and let us know that you’d like to give a 15-minute pitch.  You must at least be in the pre-launch stage to join.  

Not in the pre-launch stage yet?  Still conceptualizing your ideas? You can still attend and introduce yourselves while you mingle with the people during our networking break.

Our next MobileMonday session will happen on June 13, 2011.  So we need a bit of help!

Ideas for a venue.  We’re still looking for a venue sponsor for our June meeting.  A good venue would be something that can hold 60 to 80 people.  Even more would be nice! Heck, we weren’t even expecting to get 131 people during our last meeting! The venue should also have a good air conditioning system.

Volunteers.  We’re looking for volunteers to help with the registration and venue setup.  There’s a special requirement for the registration volunteers:  You must have either an iPhone or Android device since we’ll be scanning QR codes as the guests come in.  Whether you’re volunteering for the registration or for the venue setup, you have to be sure you can get to the venue by 5:30pm
