infoDev’s 4th Global Forum on Innovation and Technology Entrepreneurship will be held in Helsinki, Finland, on May 30 to June 3, 2011, at the Marina Congress Centre. The event is carried out within the framework of a joint program with the Government of Finland and Nokia on Creating Sustainable Businesses for the Knowledge Economy.
The list of infoDev Top 50 SMEs featured at this event emphasizes the remarkable efforts by entrepreneurs around the world to spur technological innovation. Thirty-six of the selected Top 50 SMEs focus their work on the field of Mobile and ICT. In countries ranging from Brazil to Belarus and Senegal to Syria, these SMEs are harnessing digital technology to drive innovation in a diverse array of industries, such as speech recognition and graphic design.
These top 50 SME’s will be participating in the 4th Global Forum in Helsinki, where they will be introduced to mentors, business angels, corporate partners, like-minded entrepreneurs, and other business incubators. InfoDev shall select 20 winners out of the Top 50 participants through a mixture of Global Forum participant voting, worldwide online voting and professional ranking by participating judges who are venture capitalists and senior executives.
This €12.9 million program, running from 2010-2012, focuses on enhancing the competitiveness of emerging market SMEs in the information and communication technologies (ICT) and agribusiness sectors in particular. The program will also employ the use of the mobile communications platform to grow content, services and applications for developing countries.
