Mobile Monday Launches in Manchester

A networking group has been established to give the north west mobile communications industry a forum to share ideas. Mobile Monday Manchester has been founded by Garry Partington, chief executive of smartphone app developer Apadmi.
It is the latest branch of a global organisation that was founded in 2000 and now has 120 ‘chapters’ meeting regularly around the world. Mobile Monday Manchester is the first UK branch outside London, and aims to put the city on the map as a centre for mobile technology development.
Since its formation in Helsinki, Finland, Mobile Monday has grown to become an industry-leading organisation, with members working together to explore opportunities for the mobile and wireless sector with like-minded peers.
Mr Partington said: “Manchester continues to thrive as a key regional centre of creative and digital excellence and, with the rapid growth of mobile as a key online medium, we were keen to establish MoMo Manchester as a specialist networking forum for the mobile industry.
“More than 50 people attended our inaugural event, held earlier this month, and the feedback on the establishment of MoMo Manchester has been overwhelmingly positive.
“Mobile Monday is all about bringing the mobile community together. The events will feature a mix of panel discussions, guest speakers and product demonstrations and will offer a forum for sharing ideas, discussing trends from both local and global markets or just simply networking with like-minded industry colleagues.”
MoMo Manchester meets monthly in the city centre, with its next free event on July 11 in Castlefield.
