Mobile Monday Building in Africa

It’s our sincere pleasure to have now confirmed support from the World Bank to aid Mobile Monday activities in Africa.
Our defined focus will be to foster building communities of interest in the mobile sector, targeting; Kenya, Mozambique, Tanzania and Uganda, in order to facilitate networking between small and large companies, enabling players to participate on the global stage.

This 18-month initiative will empower local entrepreneurs helping them construct local, regional and global networks, knowledge and skills. A worthy goal to be sure – for those who wish to get involved with us on this great adventure – we invite you to join with our Africa Groups and get connecting!

MoMo has already launched new chapters in Kampala, Uganda and Nairobi, Kenya. The Kampala chapter opened its doors March 8th – the eve of Digital Africa Summit – and the Nairobi chapter followed March 11th, with support from a wide range of local players, as noted by infoDev Here.

“We visited selected African markets a few weeks ago with absolutely no idea how the open community values would be received, and were pleasantly greeted with much enthusiasm by the business, governmental, and academic communities, and by the media as well,” said Jari Tammisto on this CNBC Africa Power Lunch interview.

Suffice to say we have stepped forward to work together with this amazing community in order to fuel chapter growth for developing markets. Over the coming few years we expect the significant challenges ahead will be worthy of the final rewards for all parties. As we build with key-players in the MoMo community, and a wide range of new partners coming from public and private sectors, our core guiding principles will always remain!
