MoMo Islamabad 10th January Event Report

Mobile Monday monthly event was successfully conducted on 10th of Jan 2011 at faculty cafeteria of COMSATS Institute of Information Technology (CIIT), Islamabad.
UFONE, Warid, ZONG, TELENOR, Alcatel, Huawei, ZTE, and AB Solutions (Telecom S/w Developers) were invited along with MoITT and PTA to participate in the event. The theme of this event was “Developing Mobile Applications”.
Besides Industry, Professors, Faculty and students from EE, Computer Science, Management Sciences and Mathematics Departments of CIIT participated in the event. It was an Informal event and every one shared their ideas on the theme. They all like the novel idea of gathering in this event and agreed to continue their support for MoMo. It was stressed during this event that the event should be held every month without any break.
Two student’s projects (Ph.D. project and Undergraduate project) related to mobile applications were also discussed in the event and their efforts were appreciated by all attendees.
The Tentative date for next Mobile Monday event is Monday 14th February, 2011.
Recommendations:
The officers from Warid, Ufone, Telenor and ABSolutions who attended this event took part in the discussions and highlighted with the problems they are facing.
Based on these discussions the following were the recommendations of the event:
-The Web site of MoMo shall be properly managed and updated with students and young faculty ideas.
– Issues relating to power are of great concern to mobile operators and Energy conservation and Alternate energy resources shall be studied.
– 3-G and 4-G technology, its implementation and other related issues shall be studied.
The Event was ended with thanks to everyone who participated and put their efforts in arranging this event.
